Some enlightenment please from 7.x veterans on how and where to save Configs (on Mod side) and Layouts (on WS).

I ask because tS just failed to save my Model config when I inserted it into the Config Library. It blinked but there was no thumbnail/config generated.
Naturally I accidentally clicked one of the other pre-existing configs and my two day UI Tweaking Marathon vanished into the ether.

In the tS6 Files menu, what is saved when the 'Save/Preferences' command is clicked? What isn't?

Does a 'Config' in 6.6 = a 'Layout' in 7.x?
I see several places in WS where it looks like I can save a layout... but which one has dominance? The hidden Library? The Dropdown button in the stack? The Scene View?
Do HotKeys have to be explicitly saved or do they automatically 'stick' as you assign them?

The hotkeys are saved on exit. So exiting TrueSpace will save your hotkeys.

You can save Workspace Layouts in any Workspace library by right clicking in it and choosing Insert As->Layout.

If you save the layout in the default layouts library folder it will also appear on the tab bar at the top of the application.

Also note that if you are having problems with the libraries it may be because you installed it to the program files directory. If TrueSpace is installed to the Program Files directory, it needs to be run in administrator mode to work correctly. (Which is why it doesn't default to the Program Files directory ;))

I haven't used Model side in a long time so I can't help you out with that side of things, sorry. :(

all model side acts like ts6.6 so generally, if you do it the same way it should work. the layout icon might look a little different but should be in the standard default position in 66.

how did you set hotkeys in 66 the icon helper? it's still there.
WS keys you hold ctrl while hover over an icon, right click it and the shortcut window appears, set shortcut.

preferences in model are still the same. if I remember, save, saves any change you made on preferences panel without closing.

model config and 7.6 layout are two different things. if you use model alot make and save the configs you use and when you create layouts save them as Jack pointed out. you can save them in any library but the WS layout library seems most logical when starting out

and Layouts (on WS).

Left click at the upper left corner. Choose Save Layout. In the upcoming save dialogue hunt down for the layouts folder. ... \trueSpace76\tS\Rs Main Libraries\Layouts - Configurations. And then save it there. That's the place where trueSpace loads new Layouts from.

To show the saved layout you can restart trueSpace or simply switch to another layout. Then the new saved layout will appear.

Nearly impossible for a newbie to save a layout correct that way. I already asked the devs if the save dialogue couldn't directly start at the Layouts - Configurations folder.
