Ok see the wireframe below. Now you can see that off the corner piece I have swept it out. Now can I seperate the swept piece off without boolean?

I don't have trueSpace in front of me right now but there was added just for this purpose. I think it's called "separate." ;) You just highlight the faces that you want to make into a new object and then click the tool.

There's also the cut tool which can be used to split a mesh along edges.

The Copy tool could do this as well: select the faces, click copy, move the duplicated faces out of the way. Then select and delete the original faces.

So lots of different ways. ;)

are these tools in the WS or MS? I can't seem to find them. Oh and copy copies the entire object..not just the faces.

There's a copy tool for Mesh Edit mode on the edit toolbar, it works on polygons. And yup the tools are on Workspace side. I'll post a video tomorrow.

You could also just copy the object, and then delete a selection from one, and the inverse of the selection from the other.

The tools are on the flyout - dont forget to click and hold to activate a flyout, and then within that there are sometimes more flyouts, just point and hold the mouse over an icon to start that extra fly out.

The manual has pretty detailed screenshots of the location of the modeling tools (I know since I made them ;) ) including where they are on the flyouts. Chapter 3 should help while waiting for Jack's videos.

Here's a video that shows how you can either separate part of the object or copy part of the object and then separate it. Is this what you're trying to do?

Ok..got a new situation that has popped up. Now when I use the selection tool. I can select some of the faces, however it does not select the back side or underneath...but I can crtl select those so not so big of a deal..howerver the interior face, that is what I can't get to.

When you use selecting tool, you can see Mesh editor setting panel on panel tab.
By uncheck Front faces parameter, you can select both front faces and back faces.

If you have a face inside the object, for instance, you can also select the outer faces, then hide them. This will give you clear and easy access to get to internal faces (eg teeth or tongue inside a mouth, as a good example). Unhide when done.

Heidi's video covers separate and copy, so here's one covering cutting and selecting through an object.
