Out of curiosity, is there anyone out there still interested in the single player experience?

I still do most of my gameplay single player, eg Gears of War 2 I go through on my own and complete the story, and then will do some multiplayer stuff, but probably not a lot. Same with Bioshock that I'm currently playing. Did the same with Halo 3. And Half Life, and racing games like Forza.

The only exception to that is MMORPGs which I love, and which are of course inherently multiplayer :)

I voted "still interested" though, as with the exception of MMORPG, I tend to stick almost exclusively to the single player parts of a game, and have no interest in multiplayer only items like Quake Arena or Unreal Tournament, that only feature "multiplayer on your own with bots instead" as their single player stuff.

HTH!

I like a mixed bag as well. I am a huge fan of horror games which of course are single player. (Silent Hill series, Alone in the dark, CoC Dark Corners of the Earth, etc) I also enjoy a good RPG. (Mass Effect, NWN, Fable, )

Multi player I like but I think I have out grown the MMO world. At least until something earth breaking comes out. If I play a multiplayer game it's usually a shooter. (Left4Dead being my favorite at this time)

So a long reply for a simple question. Sorry about that.

PS. I really enjoyed your tutorials Nowherebrain and plan on buying the complete set when i get paid. Not for the model in general but for the thought process that goes into modelling them. Thank you for making these available.

I don't do any online or MMORPG. I prefer playing single player in games like Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, and lately Call of Duty 4.

I dabble in making games, adventure games mostly and I have no interest in the multi player option.. you get enough headsches from single player games online

Saying that I am a member of a MotoGP racing clan, but its been 6 months since I raced

I voted for a mixed bag. Some games I love to play as SP so I can enjoy the story such as GOW, Farcry, C&C 3 and FEAR. The multiplayer aspects of those games had no great appeal to me. As a MP experience, Joint Operations was a fantastic game, so much so I joined a clan and really got sucked in to the whole thing. Lost about 18 months of my life to that one.:p Nowadays, COD 4 seems to be my poison of choice, although very rarely of late. Must admit I'm looking forward to seeing how Operation Flashpoint 2 pans out. Could be another one best enjoyed as a member of a clan.

I've played a couple of MMORPG's and they can be fun, but I think I prefer single player games more often. I really like FarCry, FarCry2, Crysis, etc. Stuff like that.

I still like both modes for different games.... I enjoy mp fps a great deal Call of Duty etc..... I play these games with a small clan made up of fellows I used to work with.

I play single player rts games like Prince of Persia with my kids.... its more of a co-op coaching role but we get a kick out of it.

I still think that successful mp games need some sense of a single player mode as a training vehicle....

Team Fortress and very few others went straight to mp and many players I know stayed away from these games for the lack of the sp mode. It seems a lot of players want to develop their basic skills with games without an audience.

I like single player gaming, but I love to have interaction via NPCs (Non-Playable-Characters). Just not NPCs that are controlled by real people, but by the computer.

I voted mixed bag, some games have good single player, some good multi-player, and some do both or neither well.

I could list the games I like and play, but it would be kinda long. ;)

Here's a nice condensed version (genres):
Real-time Strategy, First Person Shooter, some Racing, a few Role-playing games, Puzzles (both complex and simple), Simulation, Third Person Shooter, really most games except fighting (e.g. tekken) and anime (e.g. Devil May Cry) games, and not a big fan of turn based either (e.g. Final Fantasy).
Told you it'd be long.

If anyone wants to party up sometime on live that'd be great.
My gamertag is Zukazamme (just like my skype name, gmail, and various accounts. If you see "Zukazamme" it's probably me :p) add me!
