Hi all

Here is an example of a gun originally modeled in GS but I thought I'd post it here as it might help some one.It is a Glock 1911 modeled using layers, and a colour assigned to each layer which enables identification of the various parts for hiding etc.The parts of the model are "Glued" together forming a hierarchy allowing for easier selection of the different parts while modeling etc.

I hope this example will assist people in modeling thier own weapons,questions/feedback welcomed.

More examples and guides to follow....maybe !

Looks more like a Colt 1911 then a glock. Glocks tend to be quite a bit more blocky.

Looks good!

mdb and ghost--scout not being an expert on weapons, the image I used was DL from the net a while ago the blueprints.com I believe as a glock 1911,that aside thanks for your replies :)

Breech Block I did'nt think a tutorial on this was necessary as all the parts are layered and can be hidden so each part can studied individually,I originally posted this on the GS forums a while a go for people to modify and to see how easy it is to create a gun for games.
Regarding a tutorial if anyone has a picture of a weapon that they like I will try to make a tutorial on how to make it,I will be using TS76 "Model" side.

Rich, thanks for your comment and the pictures of "The" gun but the one I used appears to be another variant as you can see,the image used is enclosed in the zip :)

I know nothing about guns so can't comment on the question of what kind it is, but I can say it's great to see the model being shared. A great way to learn, to see how someone else put together something, or to use that content as a starting point and modify and edit it to come up with something (easier than starting from scratch when you are new to software or 3D etc). Or of course just to use it as is to make a cool scene or render :) Sounds like there is more to come to, so looking forward to that!

Thanks!

Tom

Nice modeling Jim; I remember when you made this one. ;)

Just remember that all Glocks have internal hammers. The one shown is indeed an M1911 (.45 cal.).
