3dFrog, I am getting a DirectX error when I try to startup the game:
"DirectX 9.0 installed (589824. Requires Direct X 9.0c (December 2005) or later."
I am using Vista so this is not correct, it automatically has 9.0c. Will see what I can find. |

@3dfrog - I didn't download the demo, but I wanted to. I think it will take up too much space on my computer. Besides, I don't like playing extremely voilent games. But this is different, because it has cute frogs in it... cute frogs with weaponry.... which makes it violent. So I kind of like the sceenshots, yet I also don't like them because of the guns.
Suggestion: Couldn't you make the frogs spit poison balls instead? Then I would like it more, and it would be better than shooting bullets IMO.
Some questions about the custom FPSC content you have in your game (I saw the sceenshots and I am curious because I haven't been able to get my custom content into FPSC):
1. What did you have to do to get your custom content into FPSC (GUI, static and animated models, etc.)?
2. What extra software was needed to transfer the custom content to FPSC?
3. Are you using X10 or the originial FPSC?
4. How did you change the players arms to a frog-like texture with the weapon?
I don't have Vista, so if it's X10, I won't be able to run it.:(
I don't even have FPSC X10.:(
I do have the original FPSC though.
Thanks! |

I can't really coment on FPSC.. i went to try it but there's no demo at the moment
As far as violence goes.. you're avarage Looney Toons cartoon has more, in the game the shot frogs lie down and disappear.. so its tasteful really :)
TBH i would of thought death by poison would need to be more dramatic with some indication of suffering or pain
FPS is just that, a shooter so i guess any "shot" is going to have a degree of violence
I much prefer adventure games, but even then i'm more likely to go for something dark |

Just yesterday after playing Froggy Shoot Out I got the urge to do harm. I went to an all you can eat Frog Leg restaurant...the urge is satisfied.
Because of 3DFrog's game three frogs gave their lives.
Rumor has it the next game is titled "Froggy Hugs and Kisses" and I will not describe the disgusting things you have to do... |

In actuality Tam Tam to be honest "Frog's with guns" is this game's selling point, using Poison like Nigec said would also make it more violent in a sense, and elimate the point of personifying the frogs to that extent.
Considering the target audience of this game and considering the lack of blood and gore it is very mild and can be shown to kids, there is actually very little you could do to a shoot 'em up game to remove any level of violence, short of throwing bananas or something.
But moving on to your game frog...as soon as I saw it I laughed, fantastic idea well done. Unfortunately I don't think I download it out of mercy to the bandwidth but that looks like pure fun that does
(And also I do read other forums other than work in progress and image gallery...never really replied though, you're broken me out of lurk mode frog) |

1. What did you have to do to get your custom content into FPSC (GUI, static and animated models, etc.)?
I imported the skeleton into truespace as a bvh, you can grab any skeleton in fpsc and open it in fragmotion and export to bvh. I attached the animated skeleton to the frogs I made in truespace. Then exported as dae. Opened in ultimate unwrap 3d pro, exported as milkshape model, then exported as directx x from milkshape. After you do this you run it through the free entity creation program from the game creators and it makes it fpsc ready. Static models you can use the directx directly from ultimate unwap pro.
3. Are you using X10 or the originial FPSC?
I am using the original.
4. How did you change the players arms to a frog-like texture with the weapon?
I replaced the textures of the arms in the gamecore/weapons folders with green frog textures.
Thanks all for your comments :) |

Quote by Weevil - ...and considering the lack of blood...
I saw a sceenshot on the site where there was red around the screen as if the player was being hurt. Is that supposed to be blood?
I guess the poison would be worse than the guns, but I still think there is some degree of violence involved in Froggy Shoot Out. Throwing bananas at the frogs would actually make it funny to me, and I would be more likely to buy it then. I like to hear and see funny things (and, of course, stuff about 3d modeling and animation).
I know it's a FPS game, and that involves shooting, but I just don't see the fun in shooting a living creature, human or not, in-game or not.
@3dfrog - could you please make a comical version of this game too, where the weapon is always bananas that the user and the 'bad guys' throw at each other? This would make me happy, and it would make me laugh a lot too!:) Could you also include your frog models in the game, but have them throwing bananas, instead of shooting guns. That would be so cool (to me) if you could do that.
Sorry if i'm asking a lot from you. I recently had to write an essay for school about national media censorship, so maybe that's what changed my ideas about censorship of games.
By the way, I have been planning a simulation game for years now, and it's bearly started, because i'm the only one who has time to work on it, even though my dad is a programmer. My dad works long hours, so he hardly has time to help me even learn to program a bit more.
Sorry, I guess I went off the main focus here... your game, not mine.
Edit: Thanks for that FPSC info 3dfrog. Now I could probably make non-violent First Person games in FPSC. |

Hi Tamtam
You may be interested to see a non violent game made with fpsc called letters kingdom:
http://www.letterskingdom.com/
It is for younger people but may give you some ideas what can be done with fpsc other than your regular shoot em up. |

Thanks froggy! It does look bright and cute, which I like, but still not for me, i'm a teenager, and not a young child. Like you said, it's for younger people. It looks as though the game play (for me) would be toned down too much. I like games with a bit of voilence, like punching action, but without the blood and gore, and I don't like to play too many games with guns.
I sometimes play The Sims 2, because I like that kind of game, where you can make the people interact in the game, and choose what will happen in their life. Yes there are some things that Sims can do that are violent, and inappropriate for young ones. But I don't try to raise my Sims as voilent people, and I use money cheat codes to the point where I have millions.
I wish there was a real-life button in everyones home that said "Make me rich!". Then you just press the button, and it will add one million in your currency, to your bank account. Just being silly!:D |

I just bought Froggy Shootout...I've just gotten into the General Store.
You really did a great job on it. Fun to play and I don't get slaughtered (I'm terrible at shoot-em-up games). :) |

Thanks Heidi :) Yeah I tried to make it fun for all level players. I like the hard level shooters too but get frustrated because I get killed so much. Froggy Shoot out is all about fun. |
