Wow those pages are out of date. The first in particular, as it even has the old logo on there, making it about 4 years old or something! I would caution everyone that these pages are old and out of date, and not official pages in any way.

Could you provide a link to a new page? I purchased this product in hopes that it would amount to something, and it did not. I am curious if this still holds true.

There is no new page - gameSpace is now discontinued. It was a cut down version of tS with features removed to lower the price (ones that weren't needed for game modeling).

But now you can't get lower than free, so a cut down version no longer makes sense, you can just get the extra tools too, and all for nothing :)

If it were just the fact that GS was just a "cut down" version of TS discontinuing it would'nt be quite so bad, there again being lighter it also was faster not to mention the many import/export formats GS supported.

I remember being pulled up by admin when I called GS a cut down version of TS, I was told it was a completely different product. :)

It had extra import and export functions, and some extra third party modeling tools. The third party modeling tools are pretty much replaced by the new workspace functionality anyway.

The export / import formats were out of date, and work only on Model side, not exploiting that you now have a sensible bones system for instance that can export to formats, so they all need re-writing. That subject has come up before, and the answer is simply that there is a plethora of formats, every one of which is someone's favorite and must have so that it is best supported through third party development, as we couldn't cover them all.

So the items missing are not missing due to gS no longer being available - they are all either replaced in tS7.6, or in need of a total re-creating for tS7.6 anyway :)

gS WAS a totally different product, in the sense that it had a different demographic due to how it was pitched. The toolset and code though always came from tS, and that was always openly stated too. In that sense, it was tS6.6 but with some non-gaming relevant tools removed, which reduced price as well as streamlining for a game user.

Now that you can get the whole thing for free, no need to do that. You can make a layout that only shows relevant tools - but truth be told, the workspace pretty much is the same cut down as was done for gS, and most workspace tools are very relevant to game design (it was things like NURBS that were removed from the tS code, for example).

On the formats, do let your favorite developers know that there is now a target market of hundreds of thousands of tS downloaders who would be interested in the product. Let your game engine manufacturer know that with a bit of development then every single one of their users can afford a full featured 3D modeling app so that making a game with their engine becomes an easier proposition. We'll be doing the same, but never hurts to have a bottom up approach to go with the top down approach!

Not really, stripping down 1 piece of software to make another that was nearly the same price???? How is that beneficial. The exporters were nearly broken IMO. Exporters like the tron exporter??? why? It just did not feel like a serious effort. It felt like "let's dip our lure in and see if we get a bite." Sorry, but I enjoy the 6.x versions of tS but since then I've been wanting.
