What is a good, free, UV mapping program? I have LithUnWrap, but I wanted to know if there was anything better.

It's the best free one I am aware of. You then move into ones that need purchase, though many are not too expensive.

Try one of these:

Free:
Blender
RoadKill
Wingz

LowCost:
Silo
Ultimate Unwrap3D

Ultimate Unwrap is the newer more mature brother to Lith, not my favorite uvtool, but it does do lots of 3D formats, so it has lots of use for me.

Turns out I have RoadKill downloaded, but never tried it out, will have to give that an install and have a look, thanks Rich!

As a note to anyone searching for it, you'll find it here:

The install listed under "Maya" is the one that has the standalone in it, so that is the one to download (as far as I know - remember, I didn't get as far as installing it when I downloaded it!).

Roadkill is an unwrapper only. You need additional software to clean up the unwrap then. Like Ultimate Unwrap. I love Roadkill for its easiness and speed when it comes to cut the UV spaces into pieces. I use it all the time:)

There's a free version of uvmapper (uvmapper classic) that is kinda old and unsophisticated. But I have to say it was the first one I tried that ever made any kind of sense to me.

I watched a video tutorial of UV mapping in the blender and it looks very eficient! I have no experiency with the UV mapping in blender but now that we have the trueblues LUUV on workspace I'll try it! It is free and very automatic, and simple because you dont lose time choosing wich uv mapping you'll work with like in TS. You just say here is an edge there is other, and the program make the hardworking for you.

here is a feature video about UV Mapping in Blender 2.48:
