Is there a possiibility of physical simulation or collision of fluids with bones?

For example could bones float on top of water?

Sorry I missed this earlier bones! :)

I have this in mind, but it will have to be a scripted addition. So I would say, yes, this is possible.

thanks!

Cool,

Let me know if you need any skeletal support.

At the moment it's like ice age time in Germany and so I'm early at work to be there before the main traffic starts.

Today was such a beautiful sunrise as I sat down in my office, so took my camera out, when I suddenly rememberd something about "reverse....." that frottee mentioned above:D:D but see for yourself :D:D

Very Cool Emma!

I tried that with Crazy Bob but as soon as I started the simulation the mesh looked very odd. Somewhat like Bob, but very disfigured.

How did you get the body to retain its shape?

Well done!

Yes, the mesh of Bobby has occasionally problems that's why I just used all available tools, your plugin, my camera for the sunrise and of course trueSpace. Now the steps:

- putting a large cube around Bobby

- with dynamic poser set up pose of Bobby

- subtract Bobby from the cube to get a hollow image of him inside the cube

- put a just a little bit smaller cube inside this hollowed cube

- subtracted hollow cube from little bit smaller cube

- now had a Bobby, without bones, but a shape that is usable as a fluid. While subtracting with trueSpace the coulours of original Bobby got automatically transferd to this new Bobby

- Ok, the rest is standard, putting the sunrise on a front cube face, placing everything so I could transfer Colladafile to blender, run the baking (defined there Bobby as Fluid, not as inflow.

IMPORTANT: start time = 0.00 and End time = 0.02 to get the "developing process" slow enough to be watchhed.

After the baking was finished your plugin did it's work, then setting up material for the green Bobby:D and let truSpace and Vray do their work.

What I did not try was run the backwards baking in blender because I wanted this to get out today already. Therefore I just renumbered the rendered PNGG files backwards before making an AVI from them. Also added it three times because it's not much more than two seconds.

That's interesting.

I tried adding bobby, but just deleting the bones and transform, and got that messy fluid sim.

I'm curious. Why does this process give us a Bobby useable as fluid? It worked of course, good job! But I wonder why it worked. :)

I'll send you the object so you can look for yourself. That object will be a bit less fluidly then this green guy:D

ok thanks Emma.

I just ran your procedure in trueSpace and it worked.

Wow that looked pretty cool when Bobby was subtracted from the cube! It looked like he was floating.

Just thought if I put bones now back into green very fluidly looking Bobby, I can get a Frankenstein version of him:D, ready to get animated, Hey, your plugin opens totally new dimensions.

Cool!

Maybe if he gets too close to a fire, he'll melt again! :D

Here's some snapshots I took. I duplicated your process Emma, and ran a quick sim in blender.

I know blender's interface seems very daunting to new users but once you know how to use the very few items in the blender interface for the fluid sim, you can get stunning results very quickly.

Thanks Steinie!

It's really fun and it is really not that hard!

Here's the video clip of Bobby Having A Meltdown.

This only took me about 30 minutes; and that included doing Emma's procedure for the first time, and fluid sim time in blender, plus, figuring out how to use Windows Movie Maker for the first time.

So really, a considerable part of the time was involved in just 'figuring out new tools'; not really with building the whole thing :D

Now that turned out quite good. Nice work! :D

Would you mind sharing your settings...resolution...speed...etc.?

Sure!

Resolution: 100

Time: Start: 0.00 End: 0.08

Frames: 0 to 250

Bobby is set to: Fluid,

No Velocity: X Y and Z are all 0.00

EDIT:

Here's the .blend and .bin (domain) file. The domain file is used for truespace, to get transform properties correct.

Here you go Bones.

I made this by clicking the 'Toggle Reverse for Selected Fluid' button on the Scene Fluid Controller panel.

Oh hey you're welcome Dele!

Say... I'm thinking about something. I was thinking about a try before you buy option.

Basically, I could make everything freely available
*Except the Rsx file which Converts the blender data *.

What this means is, users can get sample fluid mesh data sets to play with, the Scene Fluid Controller, documentation, etc. but if they want to continue and make more fluids with blender and convert them for use with the Scene Fluid Controller, then they would have to purchase the plugin file (the Rsx file).

This would give users a chance to take it out for a spin, to see if it's for them. If they don't like it, no problem. If they do like it, they can purchase the Rsx file and continue on.

The other plus to this is, in the Scene Fluid Controller, there is a BoatLoad of script knowledge in there.

Again, this is just something I'm considering. Is it worthwhile?

just want to point out the Fluid Sim Users Social Group here.

Just made some tutorial videos; rendering the last 2 now and will post when they are done rendering.

There is a lot of useful information about blender settings, sample videos, etc.
all compiled into an easily accessible reference:

Just thought I'd point out, think link Délé has on page 5 redirects you to his main page.
I can't find Mike's optimized blender, does anyone feel like sharing?

seems that with the polishing new styl update of his website all the valuable infos from Mike Pan seem to have gone. :(Reminds me a bit on those Plugin sites vanishing one after the other.

Yeah, it's a shame, a lot of those plugins were very useful.
Now that Caligari stopped selling their paks all that's left is scrounging. :(

Thanks Froo!

Here is a little short piece, no fancy rendering... yet. ;)

Got the idea from some other fluid sim that flooded a street.

I will expand and make the fluid more "detailed" in time.
