Because nobody else does the books for TS? I have a copy of a book that speaks of old TrueSpace 4! It was a long time ... good times ...
Someone writes a book to TS today? |

I've thought about doing one Iceman, and I've even worked out a content outline. But do people even use books these days? Or would they rather have training videos? |

Hello Jack!!
Nothing replaces a good book! Reading is about a subject that you like, you travel without moving. It may be in the pool, in the room, in the square, where we finally feel more comfortable! I believe in training video can complement and help a lot. |

Ebooks Jack. Downloadable ones and things like that would really go far. A good mix of books and training videos will each explain and acheive what the other cannot |

The only worry about a book + video noob to nuts education would be that when people first see it they will not want to learn that much ... :D |

I have 3 books written about trueSpace and keep them right next to the computer. I often pick one out ahead of the manual to double check something as they are written in a far more user-friendly manner.
Just as a note, The Truespace Bible, which was written for ts 2 is still being sold on Amazon for £32. Who the heck is buying that? |

Steinie, you have a lot of TrueSpace. Congratulations! I bet you would like to have it in your bookcase a copy updated ...
I see you invested a lot about it, believed too much ... spent his time, part of his life ... respect the very peoples who believe in peoples. After seeing that image became a movie in my head the whole time and I tried to Truespace. What value of a dream? What value of our time? What value of years of a life? Everyone here deserves respect!:) |

LOL, guess that's another unfinished project I'll need to dust off. ;)
The cool thing about the concept I've had planned for the book is structuring the material a bit like a college course on 3D content production, so it would hopefully be of general use and would be able to outlive any particular version of trueSpace. |

I'm another one who likes to have a handy book on the shelf to look at - my copy of Inside Truespace 4 sits next to my tS4 and tS5 manuals and various other bits right behind my desk....
A newer version would be great - or a good concise book that covers good 3d advice that's nominally platform independant, covering good modelling tips, texture/shader creation (including a glossary of shader tpes and when to use them - all these Blinns and phongs get a bit overwhelming!) - a walk through of UV mappnig etc etc...
But even for tS this is tricky enough due to the different ME approaches.... |
