hey guys

just wondering if we are allowed to post old gamespace video tutorials(the official ones from caligari) on something like youtube without being sued or arrested?

TomG will have to answer what the licensing status is on those. It may be that you could purchase a license for distribution from the original author if Caligari has released them from their contract.

I found the old videos for the trueSpace Big Break contest from some years back when I was doing some hard drive cleaning the other day. Tom, let me know if you need those for the website. ;)

The videos CANNOT be uploaded. They are not public domain (and indeed neither are our current free ones, which are free to view from our site, but that does not make them redistributable without checking with us first).

With the gS videos, if we wanted those released for free, they would of course be on our website. So please, no YouTube releases of those, it would indeed be infringing copyright and ownership.

No need to send the Big Break videos - they are still on site in fact and linked to from the Gallery page (see down the bottom for links to our old contests):

Ah cool I see you got them fixed, Tom. :) Last I checked (around the time of the server crash) some of the Big Break contest vids had broken links.

There was a while when everything but the winners links were removed, to save on bandwidth. Then once things quietened down, we put all the links back on. Which is good, as I like to watch Sea Weasels now and then :)

Can you create a short video for YouTube, which shows the Link to the GameSpace tutorial videos which are located on the Caligari website?

We don't have the gS vids hosted any more. There would be too much confusion along the lines of "Where is gameSpace, can I buy it, is it free?" then add to that the "Why can't I find such and such tool in tS7.6" - imagine the confusion with Model and workspace side, but amplified as gS was different again.

We know those with tS experience would be able to make good use of the videos, "translating" between the various versions and just grabbing workflow ideas and knowing tools would be in different places, but the first time users would be the ones who would find it most confusing on both counts of the product itself, and then on the rearranged toolset.

There also weren't that many gS tutorials available in the first place, so no-one needs to worry that a large library of items is no longer available - the overall number of gS videos was less than found in one regular tS course.

not to beat a dead horse here TOM G. i understand that it would be confusing to new users and cause more trouble than it's worth. it's just that the few tutorials that were made were very good, expecialy the UVE video.. (that's one that i bought:) ) and it was of great help to me in learning how to map a char. in TS. thanks for the reply TOM G.
