For those of you like me who use Poser, Daz Animate, or MotionBuilder to bring their bvh anim clips in to Truespace there always comes up with that foot sliding problem that is common with bvh files. Deals with a scaling type of issue. Your characters will not look natural if there is foot sliding. Luckily there are some easy fixes. Here are a few quick tutorials or solutions ...

1. In Poser there is a $15.00 program that is worth its weight in gold. I have gotton so quick with it I can fix foot sliding on several thousand frame bvh files in couple minutes. It is located here with great tutorials...

2. MotionBuilder of course is a breeze! ( I know motionbuilder is expensive but the student version is cheap and there is a free learning edition). Iam trying to get them to come out with a scaled down really cheap version.

In motion builder just use the "KEY AT TIME" function. This is so extremely cool. Just go to the area where the FEET slip. Select the left and right foot effector in the character controls. Lets say the feet slip from from frame 250 to 270. Well just go to a frame in that area where the feet are planted firmly (lets say frame 260 is planted good then in the "KEY AT TIME" window type in 260,250,255,265,270. What this does is sets that firmly planted frame 260 on mulitple keys where the slippage occurs. Overriding the slipping area That literally fixes foot sliding in seconds. MB is sooooo awesome. 3. Daz Studio ANIMATE. Some of you like using the free Daz Studio with the ANIMATE plugin to create your bvh clips for Truespace. To fix the FOOT SLIDING there Iam working on that workflow right now. Maybe mrbones/truebones.com will give some input on this (since he is the bvhacker master). What Iam doing is fixing the exported bvh's from Daz Studio ANIMATE in the free bvh hacker http://davedub.co.uk/bvhacker/index.html. Basically bring in that exported bvh from DAZ STUDIO ANIMATE in to bvhacker and do a few tweaks on the feet. I will update more on this shortly.

Anyway, after you get foot sliding taken care of and you bring your bvh animations in to Truespace you will be amazed at how more proffesionally your motions will look. :jumpy:

P.S. Many of us are all excited at the new MARKERLESS MOTION CAPTURE technology! It is now cheap. All you need is a cheap $50.00 web cam and some dark clothing and you can dance and walk and do interactions and your web cam puts it right in to a bvh clip for your Truespace models. Wow! See my youtube clip here and company link below it ...

I like Daz animate, they are suppose to come out with a newer version with multiple tracks and a few other items. Now if we only had Collada import too in which all the work could be imported into tS. Markerless motion capture is the bomb!

Collada support is where animeeple comes into play
