Here it is folks,
Shoot mocap with one camera:jumpy:
iPi Desktop Motion Capture™ (formerly known as Shoot3D) is an entry-level markerless motion capture technology that literally puts motion capture at animator's desktop. You can shoot a video right at your workplace using a webcam or inexpensive digital camera and have it converted to 3D animation on your PC. The technology is perfectly suited for small studios, freelance animators and motion capture enthusiasts. |

I have been waiting for this but could not afford the tens of thousands of dollars for this new technology. Now it is truely affordable. Here is how easy it is ...
1. Buy 1, 2, or 3 webcams (can be inexpensive webcams!). You can do it with 1 webcam. 2 or 3 webcams will produce slightly better results but software costs more.
2. Make sure your video card supports shader 4 technology. Most newer cards do or you can buy a new card that supports shader 4 online or ebay pretty cheap. You CAN use windows xp or vista.
3. Make sure that the person you are videoing is wearing fairly dark clothing. Jeans are ok
4. No markers or anything needed. All webcam person movement will be saved as a bvh clip. These clips can then be saved as bvh for poser, endorphin, half life or regular bvh.
5. Iam seeing that this works remarkably well considering the using of only one or two cheap webcams. 30 day free trial is available. After that software will cost 250.00 for one camera software, 950.00 for 2 camera software and 1450.00 for 3 camera software.
I think the 1 camera software will do what I need. To be able to turn on your webcam and capture all kinds of motion then drop that on your character is beyond cool
Here is a quick test I did. This was captured by the company using 2 cameras. I took that test and dropped it in to a Poser Character.
Only minor issue I have found is foot sliding (which is common with many bvh motion files. Which I can easily fix in Posers graph editor or even in MotionBulder or whatever.
Here the link of my quick test I just did ...

Hi Jay,
Wow is right and exciting.
Here is a sample file from the ipisite. I then used Bvhacker to clean it up a bit.
It should work perfect in any 3d program that imports BVH.
Let me know what you think of the quality of the motion.
Cheers |

Hi mrbones, Here is a second test. This one is your cleaned up motion. Seems a little better. However, it also needs to come down the y axis a little to the floor. Which as I mentioned only takes a second in poser by going to the menu/scripts/utility/dropfigtofloorallframes. And all is solid on the floor. In motionbuilder I did that also with their similar function. When people see how easy it is to take a cheap web cam and grab motions for your 3d characters Iam sure this will catch on big time. Here is your cleaned up bvh file ...
