MotionBuilder to Poser then Truespace is a SUPER INCREDIBLE EASY combination. Such tremendous advantages. Below is a quick tutorial. I will do an in depth video tutorial real soon. Here are the advantages .....

1. MotionBuilder is about as easy as it gets when it comes to character animation. Keyframing is a blast. Combining and blending complex bvh animation clips only takes minutes in the story editor.

2. Poser and Daz have more content then can be imagined. Quality is very high.

Importing bvh animation clips in to Poser works but there is that FOOT SLIPPAGE problem and other problems (like blending one clips motion to start at the next clips motion) that MotionBuilder takes care of instantly. MotionBuilder has a free 30 day no restriction trial and if you have Poser 6 or 7 or Pro you can give this a try. It works perfectly and is so easy. Once you use MotionBuilder you will be hooked (student version is very affordable, of course not the regular version).

1. Using the default character in Poser (or any character like Victoria or whatever) go to the top of the menu and pull down

FIGURE/USE INVERSE KINEMATICS and turn OFF IK on the left and right leg. Then go to top menu again and click on WINDOW/JOINT

EDITOR and click on ZERO FIGURE. That will zero out the bones. Export that as a BVH file.... now on to MotionBuilder.

2. In MotionBuilder import that BVH you did in Poser. Characterize that BVH file. Only takes a few minutes to characterize and then once Charactize you can use it over and over to produce hundreds of animations in MotionBuilder.

3. Here is a another tutorial on how to characterize and working with Poser....

http://www.3dlinks.com/MotionBuilder-Poser2.cfm

4. Now once Charactized as mentioned in that above tutorial you can do all that fancy easy MotionBuilder stuff and when done export it as a BVH file. Then import that in to Poser on to your character. THE REALLY COOL THING is ... your bvh's will come in to Poser higher than the ground plane (as mentioned in that tutorial) BUTTTT! There is a super easy efficient way to plant it all down to the ground plane. Works perfect. Just go to your Poser menu and click on

SCRIPTS/UTILITY/DROPALLFIGURESTOFLOORPLANE ... thats it. All your bvh clips on that Character will drop to the floor plane.

So very easy.

Here is a quick youtube test I did. Only took a couple minutes total.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWlS_PeGRn4&fmt=18

that was just throwing in a few clips in to the MotionBuilder story editor. Nothing fancy and I could of smoothed it out but

this was LITERALLY couple minutes in MotionBuilder then on to Poser for another couple minutes then rendered in Truespace 7.6.

Anyway, check out the 30 day free MotionBuilder trial. And if you are a student you can get the student discount of course.
