It's that time again...

Develop your 3D superpowers. Great feature on stereoscopic rendering and how to rig a character using Maya muscles.

Making of Monsters vs Aliens, perfect visualistaion movies in lightwave, set up smallville style vfx, recreate a Spawn cover character. Nice issue really and you can win a copy of Nuke 5.0.

CD is the usual models, textures and sounds but these are increasingly becoming Max only with Vray materials (not tS compatible).

Reviews: Lightup 1.3 for sketchup 9/10, Hypermove 8/10, Shade 9 Pro 7/10 and a monster CAD workstation (£5300).

Best news though, next month gets a new look and new content. Bigger format, professional galleries, masterclass from Pixar, ILM, extra training, project post mortems, scripting for game artists, 20 pages of 3D techniques, how to succeed in freelance.

Oh, and Realsoft 3D v5 (win) and v6 (mac). NEXT MONTH!

The legend on the new mag will now read Animation+VFX+Games+IllustrationArchitecture so it looks like they are expanding their range a bit.

Plus, the editor is hopefully running a short piece on Buddy World Books in the letters section and the first review of 3D Max Design 2010

Looks like an exciting read next month, now may be the time to subscribe.

As always, thanks for the info Splinters. I must admit the mag has looked a little thin recently. Can't wait for next month's makeover.

Yes, I do question sometime whether it is worth the £6 (I only pay around £3.80). The Game/Architecture issue a few months ago was very thick but quite lean since.

Still, excited to see what next month brings and the editor has OK'd the letter and pics I just sent....we shall see...;)

3ds Max is the only review mentioned. It is the full realsoft product!

I second that!
Realsoft and trueSpace have very similar beginnings, both started on the Amiga Computer and both are complete packages. Looking forward to next months issue to play with this software. If trueSpace takes a wrong turn it would be nice to have a backup plan.

Here is a thought, we should all sign up for the forums @ 3dworld and ask the editors how that genius Woodward does his stuff!

We could also ask about how he gets such great renders...... :D

I love their dry sense of humor (The English that is)

My father was Irish, my mother English.... seems I have the worst traits of both.....

Honestly, the letters to the editor might encourage a "Woodward" original tut in the mag.... also, your renders are wonderful and pulling on your arm for tuts is fun.

Bear in mind of course, that a year or so ago, I was promised a similar letter/feature and nothing came of it...:(

Still, I may reinforce the idea by sending in some pics for their gallery...but if the recent quality is anything to go by; I have no hope!

Thanks for the support as always.

Yep, that is the first issue I have bought in over a year.

BTW, good luck with getting Buddy World mentioned in a future issue. You may have just timed it right if they are suddenly gonna increase the size of the mag. :)

Lets hope so, last time I featured in there was in the very early days of the mag with a few spoof pepepig movie posters. They weren't particularly well rendered either if I remember right...
