I'm messing aroung with spotlights and infinite lights in tS 7.6 and am finding rotating the light so it hits the subject to be challenging. It occured to me that one way to aim the light would be like aiming a camera object at the subject. I'm wondering if there is a way to do that. Perhaps a script could generate a light object based on where you're looking?

Thanks.

In Model you can do this already.
Select the spotlight.
Open new small view window.
In new view switch to 'smallview from object'
Use view/camera controls to aim light.
It may help to use Screen coords.

In Workspace?
Who knows.
It was too easy so they got rid of it.

<EDIT> The 'smallview from object' works for any object, it doesn't have to be a light or camera.

The BEST around anywhere for workSpace is "LightMaster" by Stan. You have to see if he is selling it yet. I love using lights in workSpace again after using his plugin.

If your rendering from Kerkythea all lights that you apply point into the direction you view when you insert it.... spotlights same as projectorlights even ies lights.

If you zoom in it can be placed right into the center of your object.

See picture of the target projected onto a sphere...
