Is there a way to morph from one object (complex) to another? I want to morph from an mp3 player to a record player but I am not sure if this can be done...

Morphing just means identifying, naming and moving vertexes.

I would think with careful planning, a project like this could be done using procedural animation.

i.e.

- make box grow larger
- enlarge or shrink disc holder
- extrude or set in parts

etc.

you have 2 possibilities to do that start with the easier shape and remodel

it to the more complex and make it a morph.

The other is to use a fluid sim and the exporter to liquify one object and then liquify a second and run it in reverse and use the puddle as the intermediate step but you will have to use Blender for that see Frootees exporter and

videos how to use it.. plus see my example that I made

If you go for morphing with meshes then you will have to do it manualy

start with the mp3 player with all the pieces low poly start all the pieces plying away and remdel each part step by step to the part on the record player simultaniously modeling on all parts at once always saving out frame by frame. there is no way you can throw in an Mp3 and a record player

and ad 2 targets and slide back and forth maybe in 40 years from now..

You might also want to consider looking at 2D morphing options if you son't need your viewpoint to change during the morph - i.e. crteate renders of your two objects and then produce a morph animation between them using 2D software - I expect Jamsemc, Rayman or Steinie could find some links as they're pretty masterful at coming up with links to other apps... I've seen such programs (and have a demo at home) but the name escapes me for the moment...

A bit of a cop out option perhaps, but could be a lot less painful....

Yeah, I agree with Nez. You're also going to have a lot more freedom doing it in 2D... you can have a variety of resolutions of model...eg: go from a low poly truck to a high poly human. If you were morphing in 3d, in all likelyhood both models would need to have the same poly count and the same poly type. Plus, in a 2D program, the textures would morph along with the model without you trying to keyframe in the changes yourself in TS.

I use Abrosoft Fantamorph for 2D work, in case anyone is interested in doing it that way.
