I just discovered a technique to reorder the items in a library using the windows file system in windows XP. Maybe it works in vista too.

1. create a new folder that will replace the old one.

If you don't create your own library places then place the new folder in the default one(C:\trueSpace76\tS\Rs Main Libraries)

2. go to the folder for the original items and set the order of the items.

(view - arrange icons by - name) will alphabetize them

3. select all items except "Index" and copy them to the new folder

Now you can open the new library and items are in order.:)

Nice tip clintonman. In Vista 32 I was able to delete the Index file in the orginal Folder. I think you have to Close the library in the Stack and reboot tS76 in order for the change to take. As soon as you add or delete and or do some type of editing in the library from tS76, a new Index is created.

Just tried it, but for winXP I had to exit truespace, delete the index and then go back into truespace before it would rebuild the index properly. It's like the original index just recreates itself from memory. Still much easier than my original discovery.

Edit: Just saw your edit change and my test shows that you don't have to close the library to get the change. By "reboot" do you mean close truespace and reopen or something else?

Yes Exit/Open tS76 = Reboot.

I just moved the index to a temp directory, restarted tS and had my objects in alphabetical order. Moved the index back restarted tS and it was back to normal. (In creation date order)

Ordering doesn't have to be just by alpha. It will order anyway windows can order. If you click on "more" you get an even longer list.

Won't this be great when you can do it within the Library without any additional tricks?

Thats what keeps us busy with software rather then 3d work :D

Thats the problem with design you need to think 5 steps ahead...
