Hi all,

It's a brand new month, and that means this Thursday, the 5th March 2009, is a Thursday Night Live! night. This is where we meet up in shared space for an informal evening of chat, speed modeling, and anything else that takes our fancy.

It begins at 5pm PST, see the web page for the PST clock plus the hyperlink to click on which will fire up tS and log you in to the appropriate shared space:

We'll see you there!

I'm not good enough in English to participate in a live chat. I need to translate what I read and write. :o

Chat is done in text. Voice chat was removed from tS with the release of tS7.6. So you could easily come along, would be no different from typing here on the forums :)

Conversation doesn't move too fast usually either, it's fairly controlled so you shouldn't be struggling to keep up etc. If you can't make it, not a problem, but would be fun to see you there!

TNL starts at - 8 GMT at 5:00 PM. That should be +9 hours added for you, thus giving you 2:00 AM. The Caligari PST clock is running at the link provided in Tom's first post.

Yes, have a look at the link and you can see the clock which gives you the current PST time. This will let you double check your time relative to the meeting time.

Count me out.
I got a gal in Kal-Kal-Kalamazoo...

My niece is in a school play and I have the honor of chauffeuring her grandparents over there to watch.
Followed by the nephew's birthday party.
Great, a houseful of screamin' kids.
Good times.

Good luck to you both with websites and over-excited children! We'll see you both another week :)

Well.....Last night at at TNL, I tried to share something unusual inside of the shared Space on TNL. I tried to place everyone inside a 3D scene with dancing aliens (using Mr. Bones BVH Motions) to interact with ! However, I had some problems getting started. So.....I left Shared Space to regroup and begin again, thinking that it would clear out the scene.......I came back later, and the scene was still running:o. It wasn't till the end of TNL that I finally regained control:o. So....What was supposed to be a short fun play turned out to be my nightmare and ran the entire time (unintended):o!
It's always something !
Here's what was intended:)....(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEGvUaQHdNQ&feature=channel_page)

Pretty close to what we got to see :) Except without the music hehe! The animations played locally so each person had to run the animations themselves (this also meant you couldn't just drop them into the scene as shown here - you'd have to have keyframed them to be invisible and then appear, to get them popping up one by one as they do in the you tube video).

Neat way to make the youtube one though, kind of a live performance, adding and subtracting elements as you go!

Of course in the shared space, the frame rate was much smoother when I played the animations (screen capture software will slow frame rates in the final movie significantly - of course if you keyframed the appearances of each you could use real-time render to file and probably get a smoother frame rate, but you lose the live performance aspect!)

Thanks for sharing, both here and last night in the shared space!

...I'm guessing, since it is shared Space, that anyone there could 'save' my aliens (Tadzilla) in order to play with on their machine ?

Yes, currently anything placed in to shared space can be saved by anyone visiting that space.

I guess, since I used some of Mr. Bones' motions inside of my characters, that I will not share them anymore. I'll have to create my own movements. Oh well...it was kind of fun while it lasted !;) I'll sit back and enjoy the Speed Modeling Comp. next time !!!:)

You do have to be careful not to place copyrighted items in an open, general purpose shared space, this is true - eg purchased models, textures, animations, etc. Unlike traditional end results, ie images and animations, the shared space actually has the real deal, the full objects, textures and motions, and that means people can extract them and save them etc.

It was indeed fun to see them in action though!

Thursday Night Live is most definitely Live !!! In the future, I guess I'll just share an empty shell of a character...unless I give it some odd motions !;) Considering there were only a handful of people there last night, and possibly only a couple of them (if any ?) saved Tadzilla, then maybe it wont rattle his bones too much ? I hope !
