I have a person model using the mirror modeler in the Workspace

I modeled a hand object

I loaded the hand object, and mirrored it as well.

I positioned the two hands, to connect to the two arms.

I went to use the boolean union, and it flattened my construction history (I lost the mirror modeler, on both objects)

Is Truespace supposed to do this?

IIRC you can only use the Mirror Modeller on one selected object at a time so to do what you are attempting will require that you do it all in the right order.

I usually work on only half the model while building the geometry (including boolean operations) then, once the geometry is close to what I want I mirror it with the mirror tool and then do any final point editing.

Yes, it will lose the active mirror modeling if you do something like boolean, resulting in a flattened history. Easy enough to fix though - do NOT mirror the hand. Deactivate mirror modeling for the body. Boolean the one hand to the one half of the body. Activate mirror modeling now, and presto, the hand is mirrored too onto the new half of the body.

So simply turning off mirror modeler for both parts, then re-enable it after the boolean is complete.

HTH!
