I would appreciate some guidance on how to animate (if possible) the lensflare post process shader. I have been working to that effect but in KF animation, the adjustments I make on the shader at various KF positions does not seem to take effect.

TIA

You didnt say what effect you want to animate because

most lens flare effects are best animated in post pro.

I use a plugin that was used for Star Trek called knolls light factory

with which you can animate next to any parameter.

It all boils down to how much money you can invest....

Theres another one I got for free which is axion plugin...

You have to do the animation with frame one after the other though...

but those are nicely looking lens flares....

Here´s a fast gif I made for you.I can do better with more time and a guide light or object... Note that if you dont want to also animate

the lens blades you can use the in built filter from photoshop... its not as

versatile with lots of parameters but it does a decent job.

you can comp these frames together in Virtual dub.....

HTH !

Note that the lens flare in Truespace is a post pro filter too and it does not keyframe but you can make the lightrail first and then

render each frame manually with different lens shader settings.

I just dont like the look of Ts ´s lens flare !

Example is from the Knoll and is one of the presets theres dozens of

effects bricks with dozens of settings....

Thanks Rayman: I have an .avi of an exploding planet that needs light effects added. Can I email you the animation so you could add light effets to it? If so PM me as to your email address. I am thinking of getting to a paying job by way of teamwork. You interested?

Kujisha i have lots of work on my own projects at the moment the last few days were just the time that most agencies had closed so I wasnt that pressed and I want to get some of my private projects to work too !

But many thanks for the offer !

The Knolls light factory plug is something you are going to like

for all your work and its realy easy to use.

But if you want to make exploding planets I´d point you to Particel Illusion

from Wondertouch. Its used for very many Scifi animations these days

and its sometimes easier to use then doing it in 3d because most

people dont have the necessary specs for the mashines (computers)

There is an Se version that isnt so expensive. I even got it on a 3d

mag cover once.;)(around 100$ nowfor SE)

HTH !

You can't keyframe the settings for the lens flare in tS. You can though keyframe the light, adjusting its position, intensity or color, which may or may not be enough to get the effect you need.

HTH!
