Well, it was a pleasure to have met some of you folks there.

After the tow truck was called to haul away a suspicious car that had been left there (pretty cool model btw :) ). we commenced to a small challenge; the topic decided on was a Bridge. The participants were 3dfrog and theMasterElite.

The pace was furious because they had only 15 minutes to model it in. When all was said and done, 3dfrog walked away with the prize. Both were very nice attempts, varied in style.

The moment this thread will allow me to post some screen grabs (for whatever reason, I can't post any pictures right now or even access my emoticons), I will, so you can all see what a wonderful idea shared space is. And, the dynamic of being there cannot be conveyed with a static picture. You just gotta be there :)

Was this your first time there Dragneye? The turnout was pretty good this time. So the more people that show up the better it gets.

I've gone to a few myself and I often wonder why the Challenges never tried teams, two on two.

Some great times in shared-space and I believe more people should try it out themselves.

The reason for not trying teams is simply the lack of people that come forward to try the speed modeling challenge :) I struggle to get two volunteers, imagine if I was looking for four. I'd be waiting all night!

If people would volunteer then I'd happily let there be a team challenge. Of course you don't need to wait til the night to volunteer, you can volunteer in advance of the meeting just by emailing me. So if anyone out there would do a team challenge, just let me know - there's 2 weeks to go to fill the roles!

It was definitely a fun meeting, and it was great to see all the folks there! We did some thinking on a couple of issues too, with questions on how to join up some vertices that were close together (this is one where Dragn needed some screen shots, I see he has problems posting images here which is a shame as wanted to follow up on those questions here with some grabs and a workflow etc).

The bridges were fun, done in two totally different styles (The Master Elite's looking somewhat futuristic and sci-fi, and 3DFrog's being wood and more like one seen in a peaceful garden).

So with some chat, some modeling, some bad jokes, and some Q&A, it was a great time! I look forward to the next meeting in 2 weeks time, on Jan 29th!

Ok, it finally worked. Here's the pics. the first two are so one can see how the scene looks, and the beginning of the mini contest (yellow arrows point to the models - theMasterElite on the blue circle, 3dfrog on the red circle).

The 3rd pic is showing some progress.

And here's a view from another angle.

Steinie, it was like my second time actually. Yes, it was enjoyable. I actually waited all day to be there; between my memory loss, and being part of a pool league team, I can never seem to make Thursdays.

It was also very commendable that for some folks there, their local time was like 3am.

Is this a cool family, or what? :D
