Congratulations to Steven, Vincenzo, Jeff and James.

Also to all of us Honorable mentions. Lots of good entries shown out there. Would love to see those that didn't make it to the gallery!

I think it's awesome that in this current economical crisis, people have dug deep, loaded up tS3 again and filled the gallery with awe-inspiring work!

Well I'll now stop entering the image gallery, at least for a while, I've proved I can win it and thats all that I entered for.

Thanks, and well done to Vincenzo, Jeff and James.

is there a way to transfer my prize to another user at all btw?

That's a question for Customer Support :) Do email them directly.

It was made pretty clear to Adriani and myself that the prizes were not transferable. This made me quite sad so I have no interest in entering now. I thought it might be nice to offer the Vray prize that Adriani kindly passed to me as a reward to a hard working student...sadly that is not possible...:(

It's not that its not transferable or not, you simply couldn't claim V-Ray as a prize if you already owned V-Ray (you can't choose a copy of something you already own, this is in the rules of entry). Both you and Adriani wanted to claim V-Ray as a prize, but you already owned it, which meant you couldn't claim it.

And that isn't the question asked here :) It also depends on what prize you pick. So the answer remains, contact Customer Support and ask :) This could be a different question and situation than you and Adriani were in.

I believe it is called 'trying to help' and if I am wrong then so be it but I would rather speak up with my experiences, even if I am wrong, than say nothing at all.

This is frankly just 'legal speak'. I cannot transfer Vray because I already own it so I cannot win it. I don't want it...I want to give it to someone else so technically, I would not be getting a prize I already own; someone else would be getting it!!

I don't mean to sound rude Tom (and I have probably lost the email to confirm this) but I was told that I could accept a prize and do with it what I wanted but I could not have it transferred to someone else.

It is just bureacracy really and the reason that I will not be entering anymore. I can't speak for Adriani but he felt disgruntled as well.

And the question there was 'is there a way to transfer my prize to another user at all btw?' I believe my own experience here was relevant....

But it depends on the prize in question, which was not stated in the original question - so you could be leaving someone thinking what they have in mind is impossible, when that is not the case. Best for them to contact customer support and ask, that's the only way to be definitive.

There's no technicality at all in not being able to receive a prize - you have to receive it in order to transfer it to someone else. Your image won, not someone else's, so you receive the prize. That's standard in any contest. Whether you can then transfer it or not depends on what prize you receive, ie you have to get the prize and then transfer it. In your case, it was not possible to receive V-Ray in the first place, as you already own it, and that violates the rules.

So the person should contact customer support and have the situation answered directly, that's the only way to get a correct and definitive answer to this unique particular case, which may or may not be similar to the cases you mention here :)

It is irrelevant now anyway as Vray has been withdrawn but I was told that none of the prizes could not be transferred so I am not sure why this point is being disputed.

Either way I can't win..I just shared my experience with Weevil, perhaps it was worded differently to me but it soon became clear that I had a choice of a US road map () or some microsoft product that was of little use to me.

Not bitter but, as I said before, little incentive to enter this contest any more with these two prizes on offer...:(

I used to enjoy receiving a nice 3D related book as a prize and loved the way you even offered to look around the office to see what you had...:p

Well in this case its simply (yes I know to contact help and support) the XNA games creators club, the person who would have a use for it is another family member, I don't particularly want it registered in my name so I simply needed to know if I could register it on his card or anything like that was all

If not then I don't know what to do with the prize

Hope you get it sorted Weevil...I simply thanked Bibiana and declined to choose one. I would of thought that a wider choice of Microsoft related stuff would be possible; keyboards, mice etc. maybe even games and hardware.

Still, what do I know about how this system works.

There's nothing in the XNA license that would stop you giving your subscription to someone else Weevil. If you choose that as your prize, you get your registration number to unlock XNA, and you may pass that to whoever you wish for them to use.

Which is why I say, contact Customer Support and ask about the specifics of your situation to get the answer.

HTH,

Tom
