I tried today to load my old version of Poser 3.0 on my XP system because it worked so well in the past with texture on the poser characters. I found that Poser 4 did not work as well and he stuck with Poser 3.0 because of ease of use. Well, Poser 3.0 does not like XP or something because it will not let me load it, so I might have to purchase a copy of Poser - so which version plays nice with TS as far as texturing goes? Any ideas?
Thanks |

You could also try DAZ, which is free. It does export to tS via OBJ, there is repainting involved in tS just to get all the materials up and running, but that's not bad for free ;)

Do you have a link for it? I remember looking for it in the past and finding only pay sites. Thanks |

Their home page, http://www.daz3d.com/ :)
They sell models and content, which is where the money is made. The actual software to pose the models is free.
Or jump straight to their download
http://www.daz3d.com/i/software/studio?_m=d
The software works very well with tS, letting you pose figures and port them in for your tS renders :)

Thank you so much. Am I going to still need Luuv for this? |

Yes, LUUV is still required as its the best way to get OBJs imported with materials intact. It's free, and included with tS though, so that's ok :)

Am I missing something? There is only one model and her clothing is a bathing suit. I am testing out the software, but I am wondering if this is how they make up for not charging for the software, but ensuring that you have to buy additional clothing and other models... |

If you only see 1 model with a bathing suit at the daz site you need glasses !
The basic models from the site are victoria and Michael.
Those are actually much better then the standard models from Poser
and at least both series 3 were free.
Its up to you to either make clothing for them or buy them.
Thats were daz makes the money..;) |

I guess I need glasses or a magnifier because Under FIGURES > DAZ PEOPLE >
There is only Victoria 4.2 EZ, nothing else. |

I´d say theres a few thousand items on the site with morphs and hair and
textures .....
the items unfold when you use thed dropdown on the left side...
just look at the whole site !
Go to tab 3d models first though ! |

Yes, the software only comes with a basic model. You should find plenty more out there, free and at a price, though. And yes, that is how they make money, by selling figures, clothing, morphs, animations, etc, for the software to pose.
Poser is no different, it also only comes with basic models and you then buy more (in fact, DAZ sprang out of Poser, they were content makers for Poser before deciding to take the step of making their own software too sd well as the content, if memory serves me right). As a note, Poser format items should be compatible with DAZ, so you have access to the huge library of Poser items to use in DAZ.

You can download Michael4 for free if you want:
http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/main-figures/michael-4-base?item=7877&cat=837&_m=d
They do have a rather large content library for people, cloths, morphs, poses etc.. That is how they make their money is by selling content. You can become a platinum club member and get alot of items for $1.99 plus alot of discounts will come your way. I like bringing items over to tS since I get better results in tS then I do Daz, maybe a little extra work but well worth it. |

Latest version of DAZ Studio include Victoria 4.2 EZ(with partial motphs of Morph++), Hair, some clothings, poses, and props.
You can download other basic human figures (Victoria 3.0, Michael 3.0, Aiko 3.0, and Hiro 3.0)from download.com for free.

I find the best way to export has never been obj anyway, it has been 3ds - that way the textures fit and there is individual body parts. |
