Well I've decided to send my penguin project (Dead Penguin (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=1285)) to the great project skip in the sky. I was rapidly lossing interest in the idea and had to force myself to continue with it, which is no the way to produce good work. A new and better idea came along so off we go again.
So now I've switched to this project. It may seem a little strange at the moment but all will be revealed as it progresses.
At least now..........wait for it...wait for it......I've got something to go on!!! :D (GROAN) |

The lid yes, but that's not all what males use to leave up, you are married right? :D
I don't think it's the first toilet made in trueSpace, but the first that's shown solo. Can't wait to see where it's going ;) |

Reminds me of the "Married with children" episode when Al Bundy got himself the top of the line superflusher ;) |

Nice job so far. I started making a loo many years ago for one of the 'tree' series I was planning but never finished it. Looking forward to seeing what you've got in mind for the end result!
Oh, and great pun by the way! Made me laugh out loud! |

Not sure about John, but the guy who invented the first toilet was named Thomas Crapper. |

Sir John Harrington, godson to Queen Elizabeth, set about making a "necessary" for his godmother and himself in 1596
My Steinie ancestors from 10 BC just called it a "Tree" |

Well its amazing what you learn here at the TS Forum...;)
Just a quick update:-
Widened out the waste pipe to allow for Paul's monster jobbies. (dont know what they eat in Doncaster :D )
Added feet on the toilet lid, and of course the whole cistern section.
More soon. |

Aw, hope the grime-master isn't going to make it too nasty..
Have to remember not to eat anything while clicking on this thread ;)
Love the design...though I would be quite nervous sitting below a heavy water cistern like that! :D |

Aw, hope the grime-master isn't going to make it too nasty.. Not sure yet if I'm going to make this one really grimy or really clean yet. Only time will tell, so your lunch might be safe ;) |

Can't say if I've ever seen a rear outlet pipe like that-everyone I've seen goes down thru the floor. The seat portion 'where the rubber meets the road' so to speak seems quite narrow. Someone with narrow slats is liable to fall right in.
Toilets have been around far longer than the Thomas Crapper myth- the Romans had them, the Babylonians had them, it's one of those recurring inventions. Talk about old school... I'm tempted to break out my trusty outhouse model! |

Someone with narrow slats is liable to fall right in. Well I suppose all plumbing is different but the waste pipe of my John/Crapper/Khazi/Toilet (delete where applicable;) ) is just like this one  Are you saying you think the bowl needs to be wider???
Anyway todays update... Not much as she who must be obeyed made me go out shopping today. Why couldn't she be more like Kate ;)
1...Bracket on downpipe.
2...Loo roll holder.
3...Loo Brush.
More to come tomorrow (unless there's a sale on somewhere ;) ) |

Not the bowl, the seat. The 'ring' seems narrow.
Also wondering where the bolts that hold it to the floor are. |

Really good work so far MadMouse.
But as spacekdet has said, I think the toilet seat needs to be a bit wider |

I think the width of the seat is deceptive due to the angle its viewed at here's a render from a higher POV.
There was originally bolts on my first model but I didn't like the way they looked so I left them out (a bit of artistic licence if you will).
Here's today efforts not a vast change as I spent quite a while playing with V-ray. Its the first time I've seriously used V-ray and its taking me a little time to get used to it
This is about as far as I intend to go with this part of the project. Just a toilet mat and maybe an air freshener or plant (not sure yet) and then its either textures or on to the main part of the project ;) |

Cool...I am intrigued but I still think the seat needs to be a bit fatter i.e. the aperture could be smaller.
Now what could you be up to with this one..... |

You may all be right but without giving to many clues away.... not much of the seat will be visible in the final render so its not a big problem really ;) |

Looking fab!
I do agree with Spacekdet and Splinters that the seat looks to 'thin'. If you're not going to see it in the final render then fair enough but that's got me really puzzled! I can't wait to see where this is heading!
Why couldn't she be more like Kate
You wouldn't want that, you really wouldn't! :) |

One more quick update before I shut down for the night.
I've added the mat and tried a more dynamic camera angle (if its possible to have a dynamic view of a toilet:) ) I've decided against the plant and air freshener so I've turned all the bells and whistles on for this render. I'm rather please with the result. |

Nothing like a nice model rendered in simple greyscale. Good one. Are these polygons or nurbs? |
