I wanted to make the entrance for a "Sun Motel" and I got this. It doesn't look like it belongs on Earth.

Any ideas on how I should proceed? |

Sorry, my bad. "Sun Motel" is the name. I wanted to make the entrance with a circular door and rays. I did it once and didn't like it and this is the second try. I'll have to cut a hole in the middle and put a door and stairs or something. This will be the entrance hallway. And all that is true if I don't decide to turn it into a spaceship or something. :)
About the door - haven't started making it yet cause I'm not sure how. A normal door won't do for such a futuristic motel. A sliding door also seems too low-tech. Maybe an iris-like door. Ideas? |

Maybe a visible energy/force field airlock type thing? |

Nope, but spacekdet asked me if that thing was a part of a sternwheeler.

Hmm. Not enough polygons in a force field. I need more polygons so I can do more bevels. :) (27770 faces now) |

Have that door roll aside if possible. It always looks cool in Deep Space 9 :p Not that I watched it... |

a little thick for a DS-9 door (yes I watched the show) at first glance I thought it looked like one of those tunneling machines. |

If you turned that thing upright and give it some interior and whatnot, it would make for a really nice "sun motel" worthy of giving Trump a run for his money...it would make a very nice building, kind of a mall wonder, with one hell of a skylight...with a hole amidst each floor for some fancy sculpture or fountain or plantscape or something standing several [6] stories tall! Some stairwells, a glass elevator or two on the inner opposing sides...there's so much you could do with this one - regardless of what you turn it into, it's definitely a great foundation to start from! I'd love to see a grand-scale project from this.
Very nice. :) |

Good idea, JPSofCA. It could be part of a huge tower. I think I'll keep that in mind when I add more stuff to it.
I have two more renders for today - the door.
First, the force field.

Second, the metal door (and I might make a new one cause this one doesn't seem to fit the general design).

actually the doors don't look out of place. they might fit better if the glass in the doors had a quarter circle shape in stead of the polygonal shapes they have now. |

You could turn it on its side and have it be like a sort of 'lobby' and make two of the circle's segments be sliding doors. I think it looks cool now though. :D |
