ok I was reading the Low Poly war mech thread and well its contagious.. I had to work on my own mech(s) its still a very rough WIP since things are still constantly evolving in the design..
as you can see in the two pics I can't decide how I want the feet to look. |

Hey! This is cool! You hoping to animate it? Your feet are amazing. Much better than mine, but I was forced to do it like I did because I want them to also turn into wheels, so he can move without walking. If you want a few textures for your mech just let me know and I'll be happy to help you out. Just point me in the direction of what you want and it's yours :) That is, if you need textures :)
Great work. Keep it going!

thanks, I still need to tweak the feet though, the moving parts for the "toes" on the more complicated feet need more clearance if I decide to animate it.
I was playing around with UV mapping and textures last night, but never got around to rendering any pictures. (at work atm and truespace is on my home machine.) |

More rockets I see ;) I like the window screen, but the small one at the front has me a bit 'Hm!' Maybe if that were a grate-vent of some sort. This is looking a lot better designed that my Mech, but I still think he could take ya in a fight ;)
Lol! Keep this one going. I'm liking it.

yep the front needs a tweak, and I think the launchers need to be a bit bigger
and it still needs some arms with the heavy weapons.. and some cannons along the nose.. maybe a few machine guns.. |

Hey, I'm liking the detail in this new one. Throw a few fake nutsand bolts around and it gives it a whole new look ;)
Honestly I might prefer the new legs to the old legs. Let me give you a tip. I found that if I designed the biggest baddest gun, the mech's look would change to fit that. I found it really hard to design the weapon around the mech. That's just me though. I look forward to see this one kitted out.

Lol! Overkill. I tend to see mechs with symetrical weapons like that more like a Micky Mouse Mech. Maybe if you had one on one side, and a different weapon on the other. Can the rocket launchers rotate? |

Cool! Give him really beefy arms! Can this one fly? ;) Kit him out with a sword and shield and you'll really have a Jap Mech :D |

Cool, a transformer!:D
Transformer is my next project to get more experience with IK and bones..
since I have plenty of the "toys" to use as a reference. |

Hmmm, something keeps ooking a bit too blocky to me. Maybe there's a way it can look a bit more... detailed? I dunno... have you tried the cel shader? That'd look amazing on a transformer I bet :D Let me know if you have problems finding it. I think it's called toon shader :)

Well I'm only using TS 6.6 and what renders and plugins came with it. ( I got it back when they had it on sale for $199 and it came with I-pak) so still getting the hang of things (its a big difference from TS 3.2).
Also.. Transformers are Supposed to look Blocky.. Robots in Disguise and all that jazz. |

spent the weekend trying lots of different things in TS, textures, bones, importing landscapes. shaderlab.. blah blah blah... I have come to the conclusion that I need ALOT more experience using bones to do animation and that from an animating point of view having several different copies of an object each with a different skeleton makes things easier.. Now I know why the CGI transformers always cut to the same transformation sequence..
anyway... here are some more shots.. will work on a scale reference pic tonight. |

The fog effect looks good! And the design of the mountains too. :)
And the scale of them seems reasonable...like the mechwarrior games I loved.
(never liked "Neon Genesis Evangelion" with mechs the size of skyscrapers  ) |

ok another update on this WIP still need to tweak textures on here and there.. the mechs are too shiny even with the alpha mapped texture layered on.. |

here are some close ups of the mechs.. this is before I added an alpha mapped texture to simulate dirt on them.. here they just have a shiny metal texture thats way too reflective.. I changed the ground texture after these were taken (see pic two above) since the bump map looked too pixelated (free version of texture creater will only save up to 300x300 textures, I really should buy it, its only $40 US) |

Cool stuff, but in the first 2 imagines, I keep imagining that one on the right falling over. The walk cycle is very difficult isn't it :) Anyway, this is cool and I'm still enjoying watching it develop.
