Hi, my replica Lament Configuration Puzzle Box from the Hellraiser Octrilogy arrived today! heh and decided to scan in the sides of the box and make them into mask textures and make one in 3D, ive finished the box and its display case, although it needs texturing, im currenty sketching up some ideas for what scene i should make to put it in, will keep you updated, here is how it looks now:

update, new render, this is the plan i have stuck to, working on having the chains come out put all twist around in the same direction towards the camera with hooks at the ends lol, but trying to mostly point out the beauty of the box itself and not its hidden horrors:

Not much to C&C really. It looks like a cube with a texture on it.
Other then suggesting a rebuilding of the box with extruded surfaces and other surface imperfections.... I got nothing. :( |

What about showing a still of the Cube "in operation"? You'd probably have to check out some footage to see how it opens up, etc. I like the depth of field effect in the last one; and the mood of the second render.

Just don't open it!
I would say, lighten the last image up a bit; it is kind of hard to see the box itself, as well as the chains. (Maybe it's just the monitor settings I have right now).

guess ur right, its just a box with a texure on lol, but just wanted some suggestions on making the scene more than just a box lol

Im planning on adding some bump mapping, however the box itself is mostly flat and shiny

Yhe i was considering making an animation, to enter into the caligari comp, its a little complicated tho as the way the box opens in the movies is impossible, it has to be created with two entirely different boxes with different mechanisms lol, maybe ill get Poser on my computer again and make a simple person sat down next to it, to tare apart lol

Tut awww, but looks so fun inside lol
sometimes wonder if maybe my monitor settings are too high, therefor everyone elses are lower and whatever seems dark to me is pitch black for you lol, !!!! ahhhh!! im so paranoid! lol, |

Too dark, no apparent light source, and no shadows. It looks 2d. The chain that is horizontal is too tight with no twist or slight droop. The chain has no apparent weight to it. Hope this helps. |

this is one frame of part1 of the small animation, the rest of the scene isnt yet finished but it shows how the box opens up first, im working on the next part of its unlocking, not sure if it will be more complicated or easier lol only time will tell:
