Don't give up yet Matski. I'm sure there's plenty of folk who can help with suggestions to get that happy feel. I'd suggest finding a nice sky background - one with some interesting clouds. You can of course make your own or check out texture sites like this one (http://www.mayang.com/textures/) for something suitable.
Once you have a sky you like you can use the same image with an IBL to get the colour of the light right, tweak you tree textures, add some mist and haze and maybe a happy flower or two.
The best advice I ever got from a trueSpace forum (actually the old Caligari forum) was to 'keep pushing that image because you can only learn from what you create'.

I think a different bark texture would help the scene out, and I agree that a different sky might help too. What version of TS are you using? |

Do I see Fireflies :) ? Very nice glow effect. You might try a sunset lighting to make the glows more visible. The bark texture is either too rough or to glossy. Rest looks good, don't stop working on it ;) |

Yeah, makes it looks like the tree has fungus growing all over it, which is good in a sense, however fungus normally grows in random areas, not all over the tree. |

Why not try getting rid of the glowing things and changing the grass to a more green color? |
