Hi all..

On this Post.. i like to say why i dont like player mode..and if its posible "fix them"

I dont like the player mode because:

Since TS5.1 i ever use "model" style.... about the years.. became 6.6 and now 7.1...

I Use keys to move on a scene keys.. like zxc = xyz axes.. 12345678 to chose diferent views like perspective bla bla..

In TS7.1 model its de same.. BUT... in Player mode keys not working..

May be for that i never use player mode, i dont like use the mouse on a triangle to move for the scene... TO MUCH MOUSE MOVEMENTS..

The mouse weel doesn't work properly when make zooms...

Have a bridge.. With vray.. make sometimes problems...

Player mode "for me" its good for the new Gamepack... make ts unstable.. weight... Compared with TS6.6 what runs with 256mb i use TS7.1 with 512 and IT BECAME A TURTTLE... Sure i have 1g ddr... and works good.. but

Why doesnt make the player OPTIONAL!!!????? Like VRAY Plugin..

Im very confused with 2 diferent types for move, create and render on a same TS7...

Thanks...

You've missed the point - the Player IS tS7 so it cannot be an option. It's the GUI to the new architecture. Without the Player you might as well have stayed with tS6.6, because you wouldn't get anything significant extra.

It will probably make more sense to you when the modelling tools are moved over to the Player and we finally have the option of dropping the Model view and the old tS architecture.

The Player [as well as the Link Editor] is tS7. What you see as the modeler is in fact tS6.6 being used as 1 big plugin. The only reasons the modeler is even still there is because the Player doesn't have all the necessary tools yet, & also because without it & the bridge people wouldn't be able to use all the plugins they already have.

I have to agree to an extent. I find I'm still using 6.6 for a lot of modelling, as it's more stable ( damn the bridge) and lower use of resource, and the screen is less cluttered. As mentioned, the zoom with the mouse wheel doesn't work consistently, and the other thing I miss is the ability to control the coordinate system by right clicking the movement controls. I use my old PC with truespace 6.6 and transfer over to my new PC running 7.1 because I love vray to bits (even though it doesn't handle multi-layered materials). That being said, I'm hopeful that everything will be transferred over nicely for the next upgrade.

BTW it is possible to have hotkeys for those things in the Player mode. Since "Top View" is a different function in Player than "Top View" in Modeler, though, then you can't have the same hotkey for each :)

All you do is define the hotkey in the Player side the way you want it - this is done via a different hotkey mechanism than in the old tS6.6. What I do for now is set up 1 to be Front View in Modeler, and CTRL-1 is Front View in Player. I could make 1 Front View in Player and CTRL-1 Front View in Modeler, and probably will once the Player gets the large new batch of modeling tools and functionality in it next time around, because then I will be doing most of my work in the Player, so will set the Player to my most natural keys.

I have previously raised the question with developers (some time back) about whether hotkeys can be context specific, so that "1" could mean different things in Player and Modeler (ie the same hotkey will work for Front View in Modeler and Player, even though those are really different functions assigned to one hotkey), but no response on whether that would ever be possible yet.

Will become less relevant anyway as the Player takes on more and more functionality and the Modeler becomes more and more redundant :)

Meantime, an added SHIFT or CTRL press will allow you to "duplicate" your hotkeys in Player and Modeler.

HTH!

Realtime rendering under DX9/10? I'll take it. More of it in TS7.5 I deduce :)

The Player view just flies around... looks good if only partly functional right now
