Hi all,

I just purchased GameSpace a few days to create low poly cartoon models for fun. I have always admired the art of games like Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, etc.

This forum seems to be teaming with incredible creative talent and 3D Knowleadge. I know someone with less creative skills like myself will have plenty to learn on this site.

I do have a few questions I wish to ask initially.

1. Can anyone point me to Internet resources on using Truespace/GameSpace for Cartoon like art?

2. The last version of Truespace I owned was 2.0.It seemed to be very popular then but I don't hear alot about Truespace anymore. Has the Truespace community been declining? If so why?

Thanks for all your help. I am very excited to be part of the Truespace/Gamespace community and this forum in particular.

A google search should find you some good tutorials. Most of what I learnt was self taught but Inside Truespace 4 by Frank Rivera was excellent training even when I had TS3.

You might just find what you need on these forums though.

As for TS decline-maybe it did lose its high(er) profile in the community as the bigger/more expensive programs took the limelight but it is most definitely back with avengeance.

Welcome back...whatever your goals are with TS...:D

Interetingly, trueSpace users seem to hang out here at our site. Other packages turn up constantly on Renderosity, 3D Commune, and other general sites, but trueSpace users don't tend to post there as much.

This is a big shame, as the artwork they make is at least as good. I think mainly it is because we have such a good strong community here that Caligari is part of, and so tS users tend to come here - why would they go elsewhere, when they can post here, share advice, frustrations and artwork, not only with other users of the same application, but also with the members of the company that makes it.

Anyway, I would love to see more tS art shared on those general forums, but it does take time to go around posting your art in several places, so I understand the tendency to post in the one place that is the most useful and specific.

So to be honest the tS community remains incredibly active, just that it does not reach out and post "out there" so much as post here :)

I would ask and encourage all our users to share their tS creations on as many sites as they have time though - post like this suggest that your great works are going unnoticed in the wider community, and I think that is a shame.

Anyway, you will find this is an incredibly active community, and you have now found the heart of that community :) Welcome!

Tom

This is something that I was trying to say years ago, Truespace is not getting enough exposure. The reviews are few, as you said people do not post their work around much. Now that TS7 is out, those that have done work with it can post around.

Although, some of us do have jobs and other commitments and I, personally, can only find the time to post here at the moment.

Correct sentiment behzad, but possibly the wrong emphasis on the word should?

But I found, that some sites if not most of them almost always want work done in Max or Maya or the other softwares. I have heard this coming from many TS users that I have had the privilage of getting to know around here. The reason I am not sure. Many have been turned down. I hope that trend changes.

If you guys really want to make an impression try to get posted here:

http://raph.com/3dartists/index.html

then we can play with the big boys. There are quite a few of you that could possibly get posted too! (talent wise). They have an International Jury selection process, and some of their members are GOOD! ......REAL GOOD! (Steven Hagg Stahlberg).

Behzad, I know this is an old thread but didn't you and Alistair Nelson run "The True Gallery"? I always appreciated that site. This is one of the many sites I enjoyed dedicated to TS, Mike's (BinkyDogNose?) and Franks was another. Nice to see your still around.

Popularity ?

What movie stars where popular in 2005,1995,1985 ?

Who was popular in high school in 2005 ? who was popular in 1995 ?

Our the same 3D App's that where popular in 1995 still popular today ?

You can model Characters with ts4 that no one could do better with a $ 7000+ app.

So it's not the App or it's Price or it's Popularity.

It's the Artist.
