Hi all.. I found a little problem with vray when use Hi-res Textures.. "HIRES= more than 500x500px..."

I show a example.. I use a common texture about 2000X2000 Pixels on a plane...

Right rendered with VRAY and left Rendered with Lightworks. "Virtualight works too"

I hope in the next upgrade for vray plugin this problems desapear... Because i send a render to the contest and the texture floor is blured..

Best Regards,

Yep can confirm.

Have you used Adaptive or another Antialiasing?

Espacially Adaptive process the Textures with a heavy blur.

You can try to use 2x AA and show if the problem appears anyway.

I agree that Vray tS needs a function to exclude Textures from filtering.

There's no problem with textures in VRay. From the screenshot I doubt you are rendering with High quality render settings for VRay.

At 'Medium' render quality setting: Textures are used directly as seen in the Player view so textures are downsampled. (There is a setting for 'Txt res for Player' in the Display Preferences - this is on pages 98 and 929 of the Artists Guide - which determines how textures applied in the model view are transferred to Player and therefore rendered with VRay).

At 'High' render quality: The original texture file from disc is used at full resolution. This requires the original image file to still be present in it's original location on disc - no renaming or moving of the file can be done otherwise the downsampled image from Player view will be used as above.

Hi Bobbins and Parva,

First, i try ALL SETTING before up this post..

For the Vray "left part" i use Medium with adaptive.. BUT i try with X4 X2 X3 X1, With GI, Without Gi, In LOW QUALITY, HIGH QUALITY, WITH SOFT LIGHT, WITH CAUSTICS and the problem its the SAME...

For the right side, i use lightworks and virtualight.. with the same light... angle, all.. I only change the render engine..

And cut with Corel in 2 sides.. its the SAME RENDER

Why u dont try with hi-res?? and see with your own eyes??

Simple, 1 big texture... and try to see detail....

Best regards !!

I haven't come across this problem, but I have problems with the lack of multiple layer texturing. Does anyone know if this can be achieved. I've also noted that the terrain object can display more than one texture inplayer, but when rendered in modeller, only the grass texture shows. Am I missing something, or is there no way to use layered textures other than with lightworks.

You said it and in this case Bobbins is right. Medium cause this "blurring", try High and you get same result like Lightworks ;)

I tried it:

its a 2000x2000 px texture

1763

top - with high setting

mid - with medium setting

bottom - applied a layer (just to try it)

good to see that there is problem with multi layer materials.

No, VRay does not move any geometry. It renders what is seen in the Player view. If you set a scene up in the Model view, render it in VRay and objects are in the wrong position, swap to the Player view and see if the objects are in the correct or wrong positions. If wrong, then you have a Bridge issue and VRay is correctly rendering what is in the Player. If the objects are in the right positions, then the Bridge has been able to synchronised the Model and Player views and you should re-render in VRay.

As for lights, the Model view lights are designed for rendering with LightWorks, so not all of their settings can be translated to VRay. The light objects in the Link Editor often have more parameters than you will see in the light panel in the Model view and these settings are specific to the way the lights work in VRay.

That's fine, you can think that. Of course, LightWorks usually won't render a scene correctly unless it is in Hight quality render mode too.
