So's the trueSpace demo gallery come to think of it. Either nobody is bothering with the demo competition anymore or Caligari have stopped it. Oh well, I don't mind my image staying on there for the rest of time.:p

Was there a demo for versions 6 or 6.5? I had a feeling they usually wait untill the last version is released (in this case 7.5) rather than cease work on that. I'd rather have a demo of 7.5 anyway ;)

Ah yes, the demo question again. No confirmation of one in the works, or even being considered. This has been asked many times with little or no "official" response.

Hi all,

Here's an update on the situation with the demo:

After long deliberation we concluded that putting the demo together would delay the work on trueSpace7.5. Development cycles are now much faster with the trueSpace7 platform in place, and such a delay would be significant.

There is also the fact that tS7.5 will be quite different from tS7.1 in many ways, and the feeling is that many people may well want to see the new animation tools in a demo for starters, let alone other tools and improvements and changes that are going into tS7.5. And we think the differences will be significant enough that a demo of tS7.1 would in fact be obsolete very quickly.

So, things have resolved just this week on the demo front, the answer now being that we are waiting for tS7.5 before releasing a demo.

Hope this keeps everyone up to speed!

So no demo for the 7 series then. Good to know, because anytime a transitory software comes out it's better to bypass it for the next version which gets the real polishing that the no form of the transitory version ever gets.

So now that Caligari has a FAR better idea of what they have now TS8 will automatically have a demo BEFORE release to the public. A soft limited 'public' beta as it were.

Thanks for the update on the demo front. I'm a bit saddened to hear this as I am quite eager to get my hands on TrueSpace 7 and see it for myself. My poor Mum was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour and all my savings for upgrading from version 5.1 have had to be spent on her treatment, not that I mind. I can always save up for TrueSpace 7 again, once my Ma is ok. But because of this, it will be longer before I can get my hands on TrueSpace 7 so the demo is my only means of seeing it in the meantime.

I'll be brave and taken a step forward and ask, and news on the TrueSpace 7.5 front?

Thanks.

Paul.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your mum.

Also, for the latest on tS7.5, keep watching the Captain's Blog:

http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=893&highlight=captain%27s+blog

This will be updated every so often (roughly every 2 weeks, but only roughly!) with the latest news from Roman on development and things behind the scenes here at Caligari.

HTH!
