Finally had time to install the 7.1 patch, and there's something fishy about the colours I get when using HDRI maps with the LightWorks engine. I set up a test scene with a simple polySphere, with Global Environment map, standard settings (Sample set to 200). This is what I got when using the two included HDRI maps (Back View perspective selected).

Now, I don't remember getting that purple colour at the bottom in the 7.0 version. Other HDRI maps also turn up with some very strange colours. Can anyone repeat this test to see if you get the same results?

Looks exactly the same here. Decreasing saturation helps, but looks like changes have been made.

I've noticed the underneath purple as well - It seemed to me to be associated with map shadow rather than ray shadow. I haven't tried no shadow.

Try adjusting saturation to 0 and retest. TS 7.1 for some reason has saturation set to 1 by default which will over saturate objects with background colors. Please let me know if that was the problem. Thanks in advance.

Page 568 Chapter 5 in the User's Manual mentions this problem. Noko and Graysho wins a prize for the correct answer! (A day in the Help Desk at Caligari;) )

"Improper colors
If the environment lighting colors the image too much, use the “saturation” parameter to reduce the
effect. The image on the left has a blue tint from blue in the environment image used. The results after
setting “saturation” to −0.6 are visible on the right."

This explains a lot... I was also confused with the bright colors in Lightworks HDRI compared to VRay...but for some reason thought that it was related to how VRay flips the HDRI image...didn't connect it to 7.1

The saturation option works fine and I might as well use VRay instead, since 7.1 seems to favour it as default renderengine :D

Cool, glad that fixes that. Time to have more fun :).
