Hey... just wanted to drop a quick note to mention that I got one of my dino Truespace renders into Prehistoric Times (which is, as it sounds like, a mag about prehistoric animals and such). The picture is very tiny unfortunately, so I'll include the larger version here (I think it was posted in the old forums somewhere). It's of two male Dilophosaurs facing off over territory (Dilophosaurs are the so-called "Spitters" from Jurassic Park, though in life they were substantially larger than the little guy in the movie). This has inspired me to get off my butt and model a little more, so expect something to surface in the WIPs section sometime in the near future. In the meantime, here's my (somewhat old) render.
Apparently, they may also have a review of my book in the next issue too. Ok, I'm probably just tooting my own horn here a little, but I thought I'd drop it in. Hopefully I'm not offending anyone. :) |

Thanks, everyone.
The version of TS was back int he 5's I think. Definately not 6 at this stage of the game. As a side note, I also think the original models for these were constructed from metaballs as at that point I hadn't really known much about modeling organic shapes via box modeling. I'm planning on trying another model (deltadromeus for anyone caring to look it up) sometime soon.
Thanks again.

PS: Just a note on the book review... the cover of the book was done in Truespace and photoshop (mainly for fur and such). |

I used to be a dinosaur "nut" when I was a kid. I once got my whole 1st grade involved in a project :D.
Looking forward to seeing more.

Horn tooting is always welcome and never needs an apology - I think one of the most exciting things to read in these forums is the entries about what projects people are working on, where they've been published, what they've been used for, and so on!
Keep us updated on the book review, I hope it's a good one!
Thanks!

Given the apparent number of keyboard players and guitarists here someone tooting his horn makes a pleasant change!!:D Nice dinosaurs Rotcorp - your picture looks quite convincing IMHO.
Good luck with you review. |
