[CU] Citizens Union Proposal (Community)
[CU] Citizens Union Proposal // Communitygoober kingAug 6, 2001, 3:11am
Here's the official Proposal I just shipped out to Rick & Co, word for word. As you
can see, it gives them quite a bit of say in how this will all play out. The ball's in their court now... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Thank you for taking the time to respond to our letter. We're glad to hear that you are willing to work with us to help make this community a better place. Therefore, it is in this spirit of community interest that we offer you this proposal to help bridge the gap between customer and company and ensure that all concerns are addressed in a fair and reasonable manner. -------------------------------- The Citizens Union The proposed Citizens Union ("the Union") would act as a vehicle for citizens of the AW Universe to voice whatever concerns they feel need to be addressed. The Union would then distill these concerns into a presentable format that could be taken to ActiveWorlds Corp. ("the Company") The Company could then look over these concerns and address each as necessary, offering assurances that they will be met, or offering reasons why they will not be met. The Union can then take that correspondence and present it to the AW Community at large. In this way, the Union will act as the voice for both the AW Community as well as the Company, and help to improve relations between the two. Here is how we propose to accomplish this goal: 1. Appoint 5 representatives for the AW Community, one for each category of concerns. (Community, World, Features, Objects, and General) Each representative will be chosen based on their competence and experience in dealing with their respective category. These representatives could then be reassigned through community elections every year. 3. Create a website that will be the central source for all information concerning the Union and its operation. Included on the site will be a Concerns Box that the community can use to submit concerns to the Union representatives, as well as a link to the Company's Suggestion Box. There will also be a page that will list all concerns that have been presented to the Union, including their priority level and their current status (Approved, Processing, or Rejected w/ reason for rejection) 3. Hold community meetings every month where all are welcome to attend and will be allowed to offer ideas, suggestions, and concerns to the Union representatives. The representatives will then catalogue all concerns and ideas presented and prioritize them based on importance to the community and feasibility. 4. Hold a private meeting between the Company (preferably comprised of CEO Rick Noll, CFO JP McCormick, Lead Programmer Roland Vilett, and other employees who would prove capable of handling concerns from the various categories) and the Union representatives following the community meeting. Each representative will present the foremost concerns from his/her category and the Company can then deliberate and either choose to move forward with implementation of the concern/idea, call for more time to decide, (which, once a decision is reached, can then be sent to the respective representative via email) or reject the proposal and offer a reason for rejection. This information will then be displayed on the Union website as mentioned above. The private meeting's time and location within the AW Universe will be determined by the Company during the conclusion of the previous private meeting. In this way, we hope to better serve both the AW community and the Company by ensuring that concerns are addressed and responded to in a proper manner. The Company is free to make any amendments to this proposal as it sees fit, including but not limited to: protocol during private meetings, specific appointments of Union representatives, and changes to the number of representatives and/or the concerns categories. The community will then deliberate over said amendments and ratify them in the form of the Citizens Union Charter which will be presented to the Company in full for its ratification by the Company. ------------------------------------------ Again, we thank you for taking the time for hearing us out and choosing to work with us. Together, we can make AW a better place for all. Sincerely, Bob Rodehorst "Goober King" (#103935) iceyAug 6, 2001, 6:22am
