Don't you think that Alpha World must have more objects?
Let's ask AW to do it ! gamerJul 21, 2001, 11:45pm

Yeah, let's also ask Microsoft to make less buggy software.
It's probably not going to happen. And personally, I wouldn't WANT it to happen. Two reasons: 1) What objects are they going to add? Alphaworld, believe it or not, does come with some general theme, so they can't just add anything. Plus, like any of the AWCers have ANY time to spend uploading objects and making registries all day. It took a month of petitioning, I believe, to add Just In's and TechnoZeus's Alphaworld objects (those were the different sized walks, units, boards, new glass objects and such). And those were REALLY exceptional yet basic objects that you would've never thought was only added a year ago. :) Basically, it'd be tough to see them adding objects like furniture, hot air balloons, and other multi polygonal stuff than they have now. It's a very specific OP, just like all the other AWC worlds. However, it DOES grow, you're just being spoiled. Every year or so, a whole set of objects are introduced, just recently, the x object set for example. :) 2) Where's the challenge? Alphaworld's objects make it the epitamy of good building skills. Without it, your houses and builds are junk. The objects and restrictions they give you really teaches you how to manipulate what you have and know. From it, you can create BEAUTIFUL things that can actually be considered masterpieces. Head over to SW City or Horizon City or any large town and you'll see that Alphaworld can be very rewarding. :) Nornny [View Quote] sw chrisJul 22, 2001, 12:05am

Where do we get the objects? If they are fully custom made, I mean, NOT convertions and you can totally verify them as custom and unique, I'll start accepting people to send objects to me, and maybe get together a new bunch to put in. The problem, is that there are so many copyright objects out there - but, send and we shall see....why not? I'm pretty busy until August the 1st, but send cutom SELF made ones and I'll get a bunch together , then propose it to everyone... F. syntaxJul 22, 2001, 6:00am
Yay for Facter!
If any of you are going to make objects, make a wk01.rwx that accepts the create texture in reverse. Sometimes when you start twisting the wk01.rwx object around, it doesn't properly align with the other textures on objects. If your not sure what I mean, look at AW 2043.4S 3749E and see how the wk01.rwx with create texture brick1 connects with the walk014.rwx. I know it's kind of a specific request but I think it should be fixed. :-) -- - Syntax - www.swcity.net [View Quote] j b e l lJul 22, 2001, 6:34am

to build. TechnoZues and I offered our further services free of charge to continue
creating new objects and improve old objects for Alpha World. This was after we together created some 150 new objects for Alpha, which largely were applauded by all (about the only negatives were about the cross section panels which some folks did not understand). I think I sent Rick (ENZO) about 4 emails, all of them unanswered before I gave up. Since then both TZ and myself applied for paid jobs as modellers for AW. I didn't hear a word and neither did TZ. Is there a change of mind? Facter, email me if AWC is serious about adding/improving objects in Alpha World. Regards, Justin [View Quote] iceyJul 22, 2001, 2:00pm
I am not sure what you mean exactly, anyway changing the script of 'wk01h.rwx'
adding a tag 200 you can modify the texture as you please, like create texture or picture www.myweb/mybricks.jpg Have a look, is this what you want? http://p_prova.tripod.com/textures/image2.jpg http://p_prova.tripod.com/textures/image1.jpg It seems that the object was made by TechnoZeus if you like I can give you the modified script... icey [View Quote] > Yay for Facter! > > If any of you are going to make objects, make a wk01.rwx that accepts the > create texture in reverse. Juston, I am saying that if you send a bunch of objects to me that are fully original, and people submit them to me and allow us to use them freely with Activeworlds under a freeware/open source kind of provision, then I'll get a collection together, and approach my superiors on the posibility of adding some more objects sometime after August the 1st (when I'll be free to help out on it). Please be aware that this is not a given or a certainy, only that I will put together a bunch of objects for a proposed update =) F. facterJul 22, 2001, 6:56pm

Tip: talk to your "superiors" (only by name, certainly not intellect), Rick and JP, FIRST so such a proposal is even POSSIBLE at this time. Don't get all OUR hopes up first until YOU talk to THEM first, dig?

Rick and JP, FIRST so such a proposal is even POSSIBLE at this time. Don't get all OUR hopes up first until YOU talk to THEM first, dig? Why? I'd rather have something together to show, than go "oh MAYBE I can do this". Its easier to get something done if the groundwork is already laid than to go in empty handed - and it is a totally "possible" thing, why wouldnt it be? Its called a proposal, which is usually how things work in a business environment - which if you understood *how* one worked, you would know - just a tip. Fac, I think it's great that you're making an effort to see if you can get some new objects added to Alphaworld. I hope no one will take what I'm about to say as throwing cold water on your offer.
While waiting to see what people submit to you, is there any chance that you, or someone else, could fix the encroachment problem for the following X objects that you kindly got put in for us, but which had to be removed later? These x objects were removed - would be nice to see them "fixed" and put back in: xaw22 xaw23 xaw24 (pp-size vertical solid picture panels) xsign xsign1 xsign2 xaw26 through xaw36 (cloud/rain/lightning/puddle) The ones below are capable of encroaching - need "fixing" before they get yanked out, too. xsat (the jail cell) xiggy4 (the large pyramid) xaw8 xaw9 (oval shaped picture objects) xaw2 xaw12 (large signs) xwed1 (wedding pavilion obj) Thanks for your interest in helping builders, Fac! I'll see waht I can do - as I said, I myself cant do anything until after
August the 1st, but I can send this on to some of the modellers and see if they can do anything in their spare time. The one that got removed, is being put back this week as far as I know. not to be mean, but you could fix the registry in 5 minutes, you coulduse
RWMod to get the values, and maybe enlarge them a bit, and replace the current ones KAH PS. yet another object that can encroach: booth.rwx [View Quote] facter facter@awsupportJul 23, 2001, 1:22pm

No I couldnt do that, each object needs to be looked at individually, and
then possibly fixed, and then the registry needs to be added to, and then each object has to be tested, etc etc It would take about 2 hours at the very least, this is a huge, public building world, and as I said, I dont have the proper time right now to fix it during my day. Its been passed to the modellers, and they will hopefully be ablet o fix it up soon. F. > [View Quote] facter facter@awsupportJul 23, 2001, 1:29pm

you think you know everything there is to working in a business environment? Try again. Simply go ask them FIRST before accepting objects--it's that simple. Put up or shut up. I'm at the end of my tether with you Eep. You have absolutly NO idea what you are talking about, once again. I have worked in so *many* business environments you have no idea. I have a MASTERS in Business computing you ....wordless individual, I *worked* at the southern hemispheres most RENOUND Business University in the BUSINESS department where I ran the *complete* internet facility, I am so much more qualified to make an opinion on *business* in an internet environment than you are, that its not even funny to contemplate. They know I am looking at ways to improve things, but I am also on a August the 1st deadline for doing the enw website, and dont have TIME to do sucha large project as adding objects, so, I am getting people to send things to me, put together something,t hen after that time go tot hem and say "heres what we have, what do you think?" Get a grip on reality Eep, we do not live in Eep'sville, where things are always as YOU see them, and stop making assumptions on things you have *no* idea about, you always do that, and refuse to understand why people get so annoyed at you for being such a judgemental individual. Next time, like always, know a little more on what you are talkigna bout, before you throw accusations around such as those. God why do I even bother replying !!!!
