Saw your posting in the beta ng. I had that prob and Roland came into my
world so we could figure it out. Textures I could see fine in 2.2 and 3.0, I couldnt see in 3.1. Not all textures were affected. If I turned mipmap off I could see all the textures, but not with that smooth look mipmap does to it. Also, found that if the textures were not 128x128 or 256x256 or 512x512 then I couldnt see the texture in 3.1 Once I resized the textures to those dimensions, then I could see them in 3.1 I still dont understand why I could see the textures that were not those dimensions in 3.0 but not 3.1 now. My vid card is 3D Blaster Banshee PCI 16meg. Its a perfectly good card, updated drivers, and seems a shame I have to change it cause of how it affects AW. Ah well. Fyrene eepFeb 18, 2001, 3:20am
Er, well, the Voodoo Banshee chip is old and outdated, Fyrene. You really should consider upgrading if you want to take advantage of AW's newer features (multiple lights, mipmapping, etc.--and Myrth tells me Roland's considering upping the max vis limit to 200m for AW 3.2 so to get all those multiple lights AND high vis yer gonna need a powerful 3D chip and system). Consider a GeForce 256 or GeForce 2-based card.

LOL Wouldnt you know it. I didnt realize it was "that" old. Okies. Talked me
into it. I should remember that computer things are outdated the day after you buy it! I guess I should have realized that when the last driver updates were 1999. I checked Mauz's page on recommendations for cards. How about the S3 Savage 4? Any good?? Fyrene [View Quote] xeroFeb 18, 2001, 6:06am
Don't get a S3, get a geforce or dont get nothing, don't waste money on
anything else. Nothing beats a geforce. -- -Xero IM: o0 Xero xero at darkvapor.com http://www.darkvapor.com eepFeb 18, 2001, 8:36am
Word. Besides, S3's defunct now anyway. Tip: stick to companies still in business. nVidia isn't going anywhere anytime soon, especially not with their chip in Microsoft's X-Box, the console killer...<smirk>

My next card that will possibly go in my new tbird will be a ati radeon aiw
if they have a 64 meg ver by then if not ill use my v 5 5500 till they get a 64 meg ver of it. I want it for its tv out tv in caps mainly and i dont think ati is going any where soon thankfuly. As per s3 any thing they were reliable cards so if you have one dont pitch it keep it for a back up card like i did till recently with my old s3 virge 4 meg but no way would i buy one now.
