Not making a joke, but man seriously it scared me.
I thought Eep or someone had lost it and gone down there to awcom and
shot them!
All I saw was an Internet Company in Boston Mass.
They have the guy in custody now though

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A heavily armed employee opened fire in the offices
of an Internet consulting company Tuesday, killing seven people before
police wrestled him to the floor, authorities said.
The gunman, who was armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, a shotgun and a
pistol, was sitting in the lobby of the building when police found him and
had to subdue him, a prosecutor said.

Michael McDermott, 42, was to be arraigned on seven charges of murder, said
John McEvoy, a Middlesex County prosecutor.

McDermott, an employee of Edgewater Technology since March, came to work as
usual Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Around 11 a.m., however, he walked systematically through the Edgewater
offices in a converted factory building and killed seven people, McEvoy
said. McEvoy would not discuss a motive other than to say it was
``work-related.''

SWAT teams fanned through the building after the shooting, checking for
people who were afraid to leave on their own or for a possible second
shooter.

However, there were no other gunmen and no one else was injured, the
prosecutor said.

Police had surrounded the building.

``When police are ducking behind their own vehicles, it's not something you
see every day,'' said Mike Brownson, who works across the street from the
office complex.

Frank Harrington, a contract consultant for the company, said he was in the
building and heard eight to 10 shots.

Nancy Pecjo, a developer with Edgewater, was not at work at the time of the
shootings but went to the building after hearing the news.

``It's a great company, a wonderful company,'' she said, adding that she
didn't know of anyone who'd been fired recently or was disgruntled.

``It's a small company, you get to know everybody there,'' she said. ``When
something like this happens it's very distressing.''

Edgewater employs approximately 240 people in Massachusetts, said John
Cooley, director of investor relations.

The company is in the process of moving its headquarters from Fayetteville,
Ark., to Wakefield, Mass., and has undergone several changes in the past few
months, including its business focus.

However, Cooley said there hadn't been any layoffs and none were planned
that he knew of.

Cooley said Edgewater provides Internet consulting services, systems
development and more to its customers. Edgewater also has offices in
Alabama, Arkansas, Minnesota and New Hampshire.

The Edgewater officers are in the Harvard Mills office complex, a
three-story, red brick former factory that houses several companies.

Wakefield is 10 miles north of downtown Boston. "

Yeah, I saw this story or a similar story where an employee killed 7
accountants in his building because the IRS was going to garnage his wages.
They are right, this is very distressing. :(

Newburyport AND Fall River... both strangely near me (a nice picnic and
all-day bicycle ride up the coast) or half hour drive, whichever sounds
better. I believe I still owe you a visit to my house so we can both run up
and honk E N Z O's nose? Remember that? lol...

Anywho, on the topic of the shooting. Actually, it's more on the topic of
stupid news reporters.
Any of you techies notice how incredibly stupid CNN is? They quoted his
answering machine message

("...Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and they have me answering
messages... how depressing..." or something like that)

In reality, this is modified from Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhikers Guide to
the Galaxy" and was said by Marvin the Robot (the Paranoid Android) Which,
by the way, is a great book I'd recommend reading. Stupid CNN :-)
And I can't say I'm surprised to get an answering machine message like that
off of him - Hell, he's a computer programmer, for shame if he had never
read that book (Take that as a warning, you should go to the bookstores all
you bot programmers that haven't read it)

Ah thats a wonderful book (as well as the other 5 of them)... I have read the entire series 2 and a
half times (still workin on the third time, and juggling that with reading Snow Crash)
