Well here I can help you, owning one my self.

First off, you can not transfer the license it says so in the EULA that
comes with it , tho i expect AWI has the power to over rule there own EULA
if they so wish.

Second, if it is a legal one you will need to contact them each year for a
new license key, and to get a key to activiate it first on a different host.

So if it is working now I would advise you zip it and forward it to AWI with
details of were you got it from and proof of payment, then delete it off
your hard disc as it is illigal.

Hope that helps,

Echo

As was stated, the universe was purchased from one of his friends which
he knows face to face. I doubt that he would bust his friend.

What we can suggest, is he get the money back from that so called
friend, delete the server (if indeed illegal) off the hard drive and get
on with life.

Anduin

True, in my defense it was very early in the morning UK time when I replyed
lol, I was basicly trying to quickly give him a run down of how they work,
what illigal ones do and what to do about it.

He did'nt say if he had it running yet or not, I think your advice is a
sound plan too if he cant get any joy with AWI.

If it is a working legal one and he needs a little help he can get AWI to
confirm this to me and I would be more that glad to help him get it running.

Echo.

I think but I would check the only way a uniserver can be "transferred" if
you for instance bought a company that already held the rights to use the
uniserver, for instance and for a example if someone took over the old
Vectorscape Ltd name and all its rights, they become legal owners as the
registered name is a company name not a person.

But as I have heard and only hearsay a universe did change hands to new
owners therefore as one contributor has mentioned its up to aw.inc if they
allow the transfer and what conditions as in the end of the day they can
stop any uniserver (legal) from operating by removing the authenticity of
that uniserver software on bootup or increase of worlds.

Illegal ones have this authenticity request removed or modified and there is
no "call to big mama" hence no authenticity request.

Proberly why commercial Uniservers never appear as this interdependency
means the interest and capital required to purchase a license of any decent
size is dependent of the parent company been of sound trading and stability.
After all would you invest X dollars in software that you might not have use
of tomorrow.

Share and enjoy

Well vectorscape ltd.. it depends if the license was registered to the
company or to the person owning the company.
