One wonders why in the hell the beta newsgroup needs to be hidden now.
I really don't care if I'm not in beta, but, I really would like to read
about it considering the usualy wait time for the next versions.
I don't think the beta newsgroup was ever "locked", why should it be now?

Yes, why does it need to be locked? Maybe 3.5 is something special or
something. I atleast want to know. The build notes on
activeworlds.com/help/aw35 are locked too. This is like AW doesn't want us
to know what's coming.

That's not a good business practice either. You generally want to keep
your client base informed on what's coming next (so they can express to
you their feelings... so you don't give them something they don't care
about and do give them things they do).
Why, may I ask, is Bill grumpy about all things Beta? "NO! You can't
see what we're doing or I'll have to gnaw your face off!" It was like
this last time when Rick put people on beta constantly and Bill would
take them off.

that is the beta notes page. If I am not correct, isn't 3.5 in Alpha right
now? 9 9 9 telegramed me not to long ago saying that "yes, 3.5 is in Alpha
stage, and all the Alpha testers have already been picked..." I am assuming
when/if it goes beta the ngs will be open again.

They also have a test universe and beta is no longer part of this NG. Man,
AW is no longer user friendly. If I don't get on beta, it's ok with me.

Bill just blocked off the Beta newsgroup on the Alpha teams request, so we
wont have a problem releasing any screenshots or bug reports etc..

Hence why I'm not renewing my citizenship. AWI's just being stupid
nowadays and I'm sick of really... just dealing with it. Shoddy
employees who get pissy when you asked them where the current beta
server installation file was, locking out the beta group simply because
you don't want customers to see what you're planning, freaking up the
rest of the newsgroups because of said lock. Creating a new uniserver
just so you can keep track of who's been put on the beta (because Bill
is a narcsistc about everything beta - it's my beleif he feels it as an
extension of himself), et al.

Well I figure one reason they did it is so people will not know who was
rejected as a candiadte and who was accepted. I'm sure Cal has already
gotten tons of complaints from people who were not accepted because for a
short time we were alble to see who was able to post to the Beta newsgroups.
I look at this way...if we were not accepted, there has to be an obvious
reason...we sucked as Beta testers! LOL
To those who were accepted hats off to you and lets get those AW redundant
Aworld.exe and aw_3d38.dll crashes to an end.

I agree with MrBruce, if I do not get in before the open beta (if there is
open beta) then oh well, atleast I got a chance to beta test 3.4
If your a tester, GET THOSE BUGS FIXED! Congratulations to everyone who got
in.

I'm sure AWI will release information as to some of the new features that
are coming about in 3.5, yet understandably they haven't released them
yet... why? AW 3.5 is in Alpha testing, hence not a ton is set down for
sure, as is normal in Alpha. Not everything is going to work for sure, hence
the testing. I think AWI has every reason to keep the testing and the new
version a secret, at least at the moment. Perhaps it will be in their best
interest to release some of the 3.5 details in the future when testing has
gone a bit farther?
