I can came across a very interesting website today in a newsletter. It
included a link to "The Internet Archive" http://www.archive.org/. This has copies of websites from multiple dates such as one from when it first started and every change of it to the present. I've got to say yahoo.com, amazon.com, etc look very very boring in 1996 hehe. Anyways if you type in an address in the "WayBack Machine" Box it will show you a list of old version of a website. Interesting one here: Activeworlds.com http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.activeworlds.com The oldest version is from 1998, perhaps because they weren't actually activeworlds until later on. I have no idea what Circle Of Fire's website address was. If anyone knows I'd like to see what it looked like... -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A message from Zeo Toxion -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- zaphodbeeblebroxJul 24, 2002, 8:18pm
Ya this has been around for quite a while . . some of my favorites . . .

http://www.channel1.com/users/fire was one of the old URL's. I believe JP
McCormick and Rick Noll had individual url's with Channel1, also. JP had an object path I couldn't find in use by any other world, and I remember using some textures from this OP for some of my builds for experimentation, using pict1, etc. Your message brings up a good point - old World's Inc (in relation to Alpha World), Alpha World, COF, AWCOM, AWINC, etc., webpages should be saved and made available for others to see. Used to be that when you entered the start area of World's Inc., there was a portal to Alpha World; however, it was a broken link at the time I visited. Maybe others remember when you could enter Alpha World that way. Hopefully, someone at all the other companies are saving the old pages, too. Will be nice to reminisce in future years. Heh, what a cool site! I found old versions of my RW site (http://tnlc.com/rw) but, unfortunately, not the original. I only still have Tyrell's maimed version. :/ Anyone else have the original?

Oh and I was also able to get some of the RW 2.x demos from http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.csl.com ! I've been looking for them for years since my hard drive crash (just say no to IBM drives). :/

Using IE 5.0, Opera 6.04, and NS 4.x seems to make no difference. all of them give me an awb.exe that says "Corrupt Install Detected"

Same here :( The old avatars ZIP files and textures worked, but not
this install. Either it's not y2k compliant or it has been transferred in text mode somewhen. [View Quote] kitJul 31, 2002, 6:59pm
