Hi Folks
Anyone experiencing the client(awbrowser) re_downloading its jpg folder? In this I mean that you have the jpgs and textures already dl into the aw cache and then the client decided to re download it all again? This might be a bandwidth plot to blast out sites (Joke) I have spoken to one other person who also is experiencing the same. Although we have been informed from AW.corp that the aw client is not re-downloading jpgs again (What is shown in the F3 download box downloading is nothing but names and numbers) (o boy I'm wondering if my site log is now at fault?? as this is showing the downloading???? Lets hope this non existent problem is solved. Da wiz ananasMar 10, 2002, 7:42pm
Yes, we had that with some web servers (an IIS version).
The reason was probably the size, that was reported wrong by the server. You can see that, when it loads a JPG with a known size, but shows a wrong one in the F3 download window. [View Quote] -- "_ | /\ \ / __/ /_ wizard myrddinMar 10, 2002, 8:37pm
Right I wait and see what happens in future, might just have been "One of
the quirks" If not my bandwith will be blown wild, which is main concern.. Da Wiz [View Quote] jermeMar 11, 2002, 1:37am
I can't help but scream "Linux". If you people would quit useing Microsoft
products your life would be so much easier (I promise!) Use Linux along with Apache and Squid. You can limit bandwith use with Squid, and Apache will do all your web serving needs.. I recomend ncFTPd (www.ncftpd.com) for an FTP server. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy Booker JTech Web Systems (www.JTechWebSystems.com -- Coming Soon) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [View Quote] ananasMar 11, 2002, 3:48am

oops, after reading Jerme's comment - is your problem
the traffic limit on server side? [View Quote] -- "_ | /\ \ / __/ /_ sw chrisMar 11, 2002, 9:52pm
It seems every time I've gone into AWGate lately it has to redownload all
the textures. ?? It occasionally happens with aw too. SW Chris [View Quote] pc hamsterMar 13, 2002, 8:48pm
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] I get this problem even when I tell it *not* to download *anything*!!!! As a result, I've the limit at 100 MB just to keep the browser from mysteriously consuming my entire Hard Drive. Patrick |
