LOL, how useless :-P

Linux, the computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse will clost close to $300 at
the cheapest! I could buy an entire (crappy) computer for that price
(without monitor) and install linux on it and use a switchbox with a monitor
I already have.

This is for people who don't have computers, but if they can afford a PS2
and they can afford a monitor, keyboard, and mouse... they would have been
better off getting a $600 computer. Those people who do this because they
don't have a computer are gunna be disappointed. Linux isn't for the
newbies.

Go read it.. it comes bundled at $200. It's not for gamers or people who
can't afford a computer, it's for computer hobbyists. You can already use
any monitory you have, or your TV.

TVs might have some problems with that sorta thing though.. don't wanna
damage the TV. Especially flat-screens!

Just curious, what can this do on PS2 that you can't on any other computer?

You won't damage the TV.. as long as you use the certified hookups that come
with it. If you were worried about damaging your TV you shouldn't be
playing VCR/DVD movies with it, or using a game console to play games. :)

You can make your own games that use the PS2's technology.. that's a huge
plus. But if you don't want to invest $200 for something that'd cost well
over $500, don't. I was just posting it for those who were interested in
linux, but don't want to mess with their computers (or anyone else). It's a
great way to learn, then move onto something more serious. I'd want it just
to make some cool games :) that I can play on the PS2.. it'd be fun.

Yeh, I guess it does have it's pluses :-)

But then again.. it makes the line between consoles and computers ever
thinner. They keep getting less and less and soon they'll be one in the same
(about 10yrs I'll guess).

It's still cool to play around with though. :) Well if they become one in
the same, at least we won't have to buy $1000 worth the consoles to play all
the different types of games plus our computer games. A company should just
go out and make a console that just happens to play all. ;)

To download, but I support the linux companies and actually go out and buy
it on CDroms. It's better then downloading a gig of information. You're
not paying for the linux distro.. you're paying for all the hardware the
goes with it. An ethernet card, 40 gig hard drive, mouse, keyboard, 2 linux
DVD's.. that's a pretty good deal for all of that.. plus I like to play
around with things and I've got the money to spare. It's better then going
out and buying another computer then having to download linux and put it
on..:P
