Usin AW in OpenGL mode
I see these weird circles in my view window when I have it (as I normally
do) opened quite largely, and I see these little dark spots in a pattern,
somewhat like this:
O O O
O O
O O O

Dunno what it is...maybe my monitor is dying...or my video card.

Using the 7075 drivers on my Radeon 32MB DDR (Radeon 7000, not a VE or 7500
or 8500)

If Radeons don't use OpenGL, but DirectX instead, then that is your problem.
Can someone confirm this?

I get the same mate, just restart the browser and it goes away....I get it
like...twice a month max...only when I've been on for long periods of time.
I'm using a Radeon VE 64 meg so I guess its a Radeon thing.

Let me say what I think about DirectX :P
Since I installed DirectX 8.1 nearly every time I start a game or anything that uses 3D, I have to REBOOT before I can use anything
Direct3D again, or the card refuses to work ! All the while, whatever happens I can still use OpenGL mode even if DX doesn't work.
OpenGL is the past and the future, DirectX was a bad dream inbetween :P

Does anyone else have the same problem with DirectX? it's really annoying.

(My card is a Geforce3)

[View Quote] I have the exact same problem with Dx8.1 and GeForce 3 <and I thought I am the only one, so I did not complain>:( I just use OpenGL which is about %50 faster than directx anyway!

I dont' think the GeForce 3 was created with DirectX in mind, was it?

nVidia does a very good job at supporting Linux and OpenGL, but they are supposed to support DirectX very well too...

dx 8.0 here. Abit Siluro card, 32 megs, GeForce 2 MX. My deal is that
I can play DX games all day and all night, but if I open and then close
AW and try to run a DX game, my system hangs.

I thought it was a mobo problem though...

There is no past. There is no future. There is only the Word, and the
Word is Daemon.

Count me in on this one too...Win2K, 64-meg GF2 MX400, and I absolutely
*HAVE* to reboot the system after running AW if I want to play a game. It's
the only thing I've seen in a long time that will consistently bluescreen an
NT-based box.

Yeah, I notice it after I've been using my comp for a while (like last night
I was on AW for a couple hours and noticed them). I guess its my 7197
drivers (my bad, using the leaked betas still lol), These latest drivers
have some issues with OpenGL (in CS: player weapons models balloon out at
the ends, and this prob)

At first I thought I burned the HUD from Jumpgate into my monitor (but then
I saw the pattern they were in, nothing like it lol)

It's very unlikely to be a hardware problem if it only happens in OpenGL and not Direct3D...

[View Quote] Supposedly the Radeon supports both APIs, but every card has its favorite.

[View Quote] I had a similar problem with my GF2 Ultra. After I installed DirectX 8.1,
all Direct3D programs looked screwey and eventually crashed the machine.

After toying around, I figured out the problem. Apparently, Windows 2000
users had better make sure that they install Service Pack 2 before (or
after) they install DX8.1 =P

I don't think it's just on a GeForce 3...I think it's a Microsoft bug on
some hardware.
