I'm starting to agree with Eep here. Although I didn't know the group would degenerate this much. This group is for general *discussion*.

It's NOT for:

1) Useless HTML posts
2) Useless HTML posts with pictures
3) Things that no one wants to here about
4) Posts regarding your butt
5) Tasteless spamming

.... and the list goes on. Please, people, just use your brain.

Some tips:

Post LINKS to pictures, don't attatch them.
The same thing goes with files.
Post something that's interesting or useful (or possibly entertaining).
Do not post in HTML.

Hey, who here who's intelligent is really idealistic enough to think this
newsgroup would be its own mini society torn away from community, where the
outcasts could spend their days living happily and intelligently?

Not me. It's a dumping ground for IDIOTS and NEWBIES. No one here with
slight intellect comes here to read anything unless its for entertainment
that people can be so dumb. You would think that all these people came here
because they were treated unfairly in community or something, WRONG! They
just found a place where they can do senseless things without being flamed.
They're not trying to PROVE that they can be intelligent and sensible and
discuss things like community, but with HTML and all the other things they
get flamed for. They're just happy making useless one word posts and banter.

Which is fine for me. This place was created for that reason. I mean, if you
really don't like what is going on here, just go back to community, as
apparently, you might have the right etiquette and mindset for NOT being
flamed there (although it's inevitable).

Let these people do what they want, it's their newsgroup, let them ruin it
or prosper in it. I doubt they'll take any more criticism from us, they had
enough of it in community.

Alas, both newsgroups have their own faults. The general.discussion
newsgroup is still a novelty though. So hopefully these useless posts will
die down after a week or two. If not.. well then you've proven Nornny
right. It will be a dumping ground.

[View Quote] I was hoping it would become a newsgroup to supplement the community
newsgroup. I'm beginning to see the error of my ways. Hopefully things
will turn around for it though. Don't count it out yet.

I made an adjustment to my newsreader and had to test it. Would you have rather me put this in Community?

As you were making a complaint about intelligent and not intelligent posting I thought better to let you
know, I am not sure your post is scholar enough for the community NG you would need to revise it a little,
for example I would also examine the height and the millimeters to the left and right, I would check font
size and make a report to the postmaster before attemting to send your mail, surely it is a way too weird for
general.d...I feel like laughing...I can't resist..hold me

I was just making a comment about posting stupid crap like "my butt itches". I guess Nornny is right... it's just a dumping ground for the morons. Goodbye, general discussion. *waves*

And useless comments like the one you just posted.

Sure, some people abuse the newsgroups by posting unecessary stuff, that may
include html. The biggest abuser, to my knowledge, is Eep. She (or he) has
wasted the largest amount of the bandwidth I dispose of, insulting and
denigrating people. She is certainly NO model for anyone. Are you
following her footsteps in normating us?

Sure, as recommendations yours are fine. But you are not (me neither) the
moderator of this newsgroup

Agree with whom you will, it's your right... but if you make it public, that
becomes yours and other people's business :)

Eep is most definitely male. It completely boggles the mind that a female could possibly be so blunt, agressive, fearless and
warlike, not to mention intolerant in the face of people that openly dislike them.

Therefore, Eep simply MUST be male.

This is an example of a civilized, intelligent post to this newsgroup. It doesn't fit the mold in community, and yet is still
related to Activeworlds. Also, please notice that the post I replied to is relevant to my response, in that XelaG referred to Eep as
a she. This post is also plaintext and contains no, and I repeat NO images nor any HTML.
