Greetings, fellow AW'ers!
I was wondering... how would I go about becoming an official beta tester for Active Worlds? I have beta tested for many things in the past, including the popular game Space Empires IV and the upcoming Microsoft Visual Studio.NET. I beleive it is important to get out as many bugs as possible from an application before it is released, and I would like to participate in that action. I am a programmer myself, so I can help diagnose the problems I encounter when I submit them. So if I could find out how to be a beta tester, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Computerizer shredJun 21, 2001, 3:43am
In the last beta, Roland selected a hand picked group of beta testers. Then,
I think, the first twenty-five people at tech-talk that asked were put on the beta. I was put on the list because he needed me to test a bug. Eep is probably one of the most qualified, but he wasn't added to the beta because Roland doesn't like him (blah blah blah). That's the way it works. Illogical, random, and irrational. Well it's good to hear eep is good at something other than swearing and
running his hands across a keyboard and insulting every person in this NG, lol [View Quote] birdmikeJun 22, 2001, 4:27pm
Eep didn't get to be a beta tester because he would constantly insult/harass
Roland whenever he reported a bug. Roland doesn't need stress like that. [View Quote] wingJun 24, 2001, 12:14pm
I wasn't added to beta either, and I have seven different CPU types to work with capable of speeds anywhere from 300 to 1333MHz,
around a half dozen 3d platforms and a good number of sound cards, along with every Windows OS except NT4. There are some blindingly obvious bugs that this rather incompetant group of beta testers managed to miss that I picked up on the DAY the thing was released. [View Quote] |
