Would be nice to have a bot that could stop nasty words from being seen, or
better yet make em purdy or symbols instead of showing the actual swear
words. And/or have a bot that can eject for such like the CA in awgate. And
yes, I know ... it words can be illuded to (masked) in many ways but still
to get the most offensive and/or versions on would be nice. It would be nice
if bots could eject for flooding as well ...

your wish has actually been answered tony m's chatbot, at least I think he's
the one who made it, can be used in worlds, it filters out anywords you
want, and its great :) plus it can eject for badwords. everybot I know of
can also eject for flooding, prestons can :)

actually speaking of prestons you could do everything you justasked for with
a preston :)

The bot mentioned is the ChatRelayBot, available at http://crb.3dhost.net

Version 3.0 build 118 is currently available, with 3.1 currently in closed-alpha testing.

The CRB does not, as you implied, have an auto-eject function.

E-mail assistance for CRB is available at support at crb.3dhost.net or by posting on the CRB forums.

Thank you Tony M, et al. I did hope that Xelag's had such a filter as I use
them the most ... my 3 bot limit is used up with my X1s :o/ I did email
XeLaG and he tells me his bots can't eject for swearing. I'd love to see
that added, and maybe even a filter that like Tony's changes the words
before they are seen on the screen. I will d/l yours Tony ... but using it
means I can't use one of my other bot buddies LOL

willing to share!

This is a good idea as I witnessed LNH one time having this very problem in
her world. A tourist was begging folks in her world to buy them a cit and it
seemed that the tourist just would not stop and for me I was having a hard
time enjoying her world with the begging tourist sending me whipers. She
asked the tourist to stop very politely but they kept on begging anyway and
even used a few swear words. If she had this kind of technology she might
not have had to warn the tourists in front of us all. So in other words she
could program the bot to say something rather than the words (buy me). My
experience is that it's usually a tourist using swear words over a known
citizen. I don't know if LNH was aware of it or not but that tourists was
flooding our whipers boxes with pleas for one of us to buy them a
citizenship. I think a bot stopping this kind of activity for her would be
nice so she can concentrate on other things in her world rather than dealing
with beggers. Seems there is a lot of peeps that beg in aw and I wish they
would stop as it drives me madd when someone begs me to buy them a cit. I
know many of them are teenagers that beg because the parents will not anty
up for a citizenship so they go out and beg citizens. I have purchased a cit
for someone before but I knew the person very well and they did not beg me.

I was not aware you were being flooded with whispers :o/ I suppose I could
disable tourist whispers temporarily of that does happen again ... but I
would need folks to tell me it's happening LOL. Thanks for your supportive
words ... swear filters are standard in many 2D chats, not sure why they
aren't in 3D?

It's true that almost all bots can already be prgramed to do this, you just
have to take the time to do it. I had a temp world many years back and had a
bot (preston) that ejected anyone who said an offensive word. So yah this
technology already exists and I odn't really understand why your putting the
suggestion here, seeing as Active Worlds doesn't usualy manufacture bots.

Actually they do program bots ... they have their own bots. And at least one
of those bots can eject for bad words, urls that shouldn't be spoken, etc. I
don't think awi is dependant on other bot programmers to do their bots?

Grimm and co make most the bots, although the CA hasnt been upgraded since
build SDK 22... thats about 3 or 4 years ago. They should use a new bot,
like mine ^_^

I know that there are bots out there that do that, they often times aren't
very effecient, but you can simply hide the chat text in a world, then
have the bot broadcast the chat messages it receives, after modifying it
how you wish. I haven't personally made one, but it isn't too hard to do
:-) I know you can make a very basic preston that will eject for bad
words, even before you start getting into chatbot sort of stuff :-) just
tell the preston that if it hears anyone say a certain word to remote
eject them...
