stand alone mode, what is it for? // Wishlistdlp anneMay 23, 2003, 8:17pm
What is it for anyway, you can do anything but move to cached areas and if
you build it's not saved. The only thing I can think of is to use this mode as a off line presentation type thing. I was thinking it might also be used for diagnostic purposes but then I though maybe not cause you don't have the universe server acting on it. If this mode has no real purpose couldn't it just be removed? ryanMay 23, 2003, 9:05pm
I believe you are able to right-click objects even if the actual world
doesn't permit this...you used to also be able to change the objects (whoopede-do) but it doesn't work anymore. Ryan [View Quote] count draculaMay 23, 2003, 11:40pm
When I had to pay per minute for beeing online, it was sometimes nice to
walk around and just look at a world without having to pay for that. ( My phonebills used to be about 200-300$/month) Drac dlp anne <anne at dreamlandpark.com> kirjoitti viestissä:3ece9e08$1 at server1.Activeworlds.com... > What is it for anyway, you can do anything but move to cached areas and if > you build it's not saved. > The only thing I can think of is to use this mode as a off line presentation > type thing. > I was thinking it might also be used for diagnostic purposes but then I > though maybe not cause you don't have the universe server acting on it. > > If this mode has no real purpose couldn't it just be removed? > > ananasMay 26, 2003, 5:11am
You can use it for testing objects, avatars and gestures,
together with a local object path. I don't think it requires too much additional coding to keep it and it doesn't slow down the browser so why drop it? [View Quote] technozeusMay 27, 2003, 3:15pm
I think that sums it up pretty well.
If it were dropped, there would be no real gain, and lots of people who like having it would complain rather loudly, not to mention the work that would be involved in removing it... so it's easier to just leave it alone. TechnoZeus [View Quote] |
