OK geesh. A lot of discussion has gone on here about water. But in an AW
situation, I'd like to try and recreate water without a lot of math and special effects. Simply put, go jump in the ocean and see how far you can see. Depends on what area of the ocean you are in, yes. Water in AW is more than likely being used for SEA water... oceans. So, lets consider in a future version of AWB that we allow for different fog values for under water than we have in air... above the water. Now, this gives you the ability to create clear bluegreen seawater like around some tropical island, crystal clear bluish icelandic water and dark green water like you find off the coast of California, or red tides, etc... Now, if you want to talk about refraction and reflection, fine... go for it :) I'd love to see a beam of stray light under the water, and the facets of the waves on the surface, and it's be killer to have a reflection of the sun and clouds on the surface of the water. You can think of a hundred things you could add and make water a hog. :P My original post on this subject just asked for foggier water... i.e 2 values for minimum and maximum under water fog values satifies my request :)) Now, if you want to see some computer water that totally kills me, check out the new seawater in DAoC when the expansion comes out. or better yet, get a Morrowind CD and check out how they did the water on that ocean. Totally cool, and I'd love to duplicate either in my AW worlds. |
