AW isn't an email client... How would that even work? Have the email printed in the chat box? Yuck...

No it would be displayed in the intergrated web window, and besides they
already have a system for sending the password. Im not saying make it an
email client, it's something that aw can add to enhance the featues.

You don't realise what programming really means, do you ? :)

It could also just send you a tgram to let you know "you have email" at that
particular address, there's more than one way it can be done. It might
benefit lots of other users you never know.

No I'm not a programmer = ) and I realize it would take some minor
modifications. But I do know if you register through the browser you receive
an email to notify you of your order. You can also receive emails for lost
passwords. sending
Enabling email access is simply a matter of telling the UniServer the
command it needs to invoke in order to send email, and the name of a file
containing a template of the message to be sent. This is done by filling out
the [mail] section of the universe.ini file.
Besides the Xelagot can send email, and I believe there is a world
monitoring bot that send you notifiers of a world down (these are created
from the AW SDK).
Being able to check the email in the browser, would save some ppl from
logging off aw and logging onto other programs that can or where ever they
have to go to check their email, and get side tracked. Instead providing
this feature would like them do it all in the browser we love and continue
surfing from some advertisement they might have receive through the built in
web window. Aw would like to keep as many users online as any other chat
client, AW is striving to evolve in both areas, 3D & chat.

[View Quote] Those are independant bots. Sending mail is much easier than recieving it, I would assume, because you don't have to worry about keeping track of it once you're done talking to the server.

You don't have to log off from AW to check Email...

What's wrong with your current email client? AW wasn't meant to be an email client. If it was to be implemented in the browser, it would be awkward at best.

"minor modifications"? ok, you've done well proving you have no clue to
programming, it's would take **MAJOR** modifications, be a complete waste of
time, just plain silly... why do you think there are standalone email
clients? anyway, there are a *LOT* of web-services that will check your POP3
mail account. The SDK is not anything like a standalone application shell,
it's just a way of programming bots easily... those bots use standalone
stuff, it's not that hard to send mail...

it might be a nifty feature but IMHO we do NOT need to add a ton of extra
features that aren't important. AW is already slow enough as it is (in some
worlds). I say we just stick to neccesary features that are related to (most
importantly) improving reliability, stability, speed, and proformance of the
browser and if the ideas are usefull, to virtual type things (that relate to
building, 3d display, etc) and other things that solve problems or are
needed (telegram blocking and PPW security for example)

I normally never use my integrated web window...it makes the AW display too
small for my 800x600 resolution (if I can get a bigger monitor then maybe I
can go to 1280x760 or whatever it is). I don't mind a feature to notify me
of when I have email (better yet add in a filter system so I don't get
notified if I get spammed), but I also wouldn't TRUST my AW browser holding
the password and username for my email

Oh I am on a high res monitor, and trust me, the webview window still makes
it too small.
